Sometimes even a simple diet switch from one food to another is enough to cause intestinal inflammation or bacterial imbalance and diarrhea in cats. Though his risk is low, it's also possible he could have an intestinal parasite (cannot be ruled out without a fecal test). You can try adding one tbsp of canned pumpkin to his diet for fiber. The green color is likely dye from something your pet ingested. I recommend monitoring the stool to see if it changes back to normal color within the next day or two .Chances are it will. Also monitor Pickles a bit more closely to make sure he isn't ingesting something he shouldn't have. If he starts to have any other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy or decreased appetite, then its best to have him seen by your local vet. Also, if there is any chance Pickles could have gotten into some kind of rat poison/bait, then he should be seen right away. It wouldn't be a bad idea also to go ahead and give Pickles a probiotic to support a healthy GI tract moving forward. I would recommend that Pussy be checked out by a vet as soon as possible. Her symptoms could be caused by intestinal parasites (worms, coccidia, giardia), bacterial or viral infection (panleukopenia), IBD, intestinal lymphoma, food allergies, among a few others. From the picture, I am also concerned that she may have a prolapsed rectum. This can occur with straining during diarrhea. Sometimes this prolapse will require surgery to put it back in place and allow it the chance to heal. A vet may recommend intestinal parasite screening or viral testing to determine the cause of her illness and prescribe appropriate treatment. Hi there. It sounds like Dora either has a GI infection (from a virus, bacteria or parasite) or he's become allergic to the protein in his food. You can try switching his food to a hypoallergenic diet (I like the hydrolyzed protein diet from Royal Canin). Keep in mind it can take several weeks for the loose stool to resolve after switching. Ideally Dora should be seen by a vet before doing this. If he has a simple infection, you vet can check his feces and figure out what's causing the loose stool and prescribe medication to stop the loose stool. The first and most common reason for it could dietary related. Other differentials may be parasite infestation and infective or inflammatory gastrointestinal disease. I would strongly recommend to start changing the diet (switch gradually over one week time), giving a bland one based on boiled chicken or white fish and rice/potatoes for a couple of weeks. If by then you will not notice any improvement,a check up and more investigations and/or treatment (antibiotic trial and parasite treatment) would be ideal. Pale coloured stool is very concerning (especially if her diet has not changed) as it indicates that the normal process of digestion and excretion is not being completed. Much of the normal stool colour comes from waste products of digestion including bile pigments and pale faeces can be a result of blockage of bile and/or reduced liver function. I would recommend a vet check and possible blood tests or ultrasound as soon as possible
