Why is my cat walking oddly and lying down? Is she in pain?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | 7 lbs

My cat has been walking differently (in odd ways), and has been frequently stopping to lay down after walking for a bit. I’m just worried if this is something manageable or something that needs to be dealt with immediately.

I’d be concerned that Holly is in pain, and that’s causing her to walk different and rest often. This is something that needs to be seen by a vet sooner rather than later as this cannot be treated with OTC methods. Many human pain medications are toxic to cats, and are fatal if given. I’d take her into the vet this weekend. I hope this helps.
