Why is my 14-year-old cat walking flat-footed and hiding after vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Longhair | Female | spayed | 14 years and 2 months old | 6 lbs

My normally healthy 14 yo cat was walking flat footed with her right back paw. Vet gave her fluids, anti nausea meds and sent her blood and radiology reports for a 2nd opinion. No pain, no difficulty breathing, slight heart murmur but nothing that indicated anything cardiac related. No masses in the x-rays. Blood work indicated high WBC, high WBC, MON, NEU, RBC, HGB, HCT. PLT and MPV were very slightly low. All her other levels are normal. After vet she retreated under a bed for the last 13 hrs

I am not too concerned about the blood work for Bella. How is she acting now? Is she walking normal? Cats will usually hide after having a big day at the vet which sounds like one for Bella. So I am not concerned she is hiding. I am wondering if she had a clot but without seeing her it is hard to say. I would see what your vet says after the second opinion but I would also recheck her if she isn't doing well. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
