Why is my 14-year-old cat walking flat-footed and hiding after vet?

If the blood test comes back normal or did come back normal and she is still having issues, I would recommend further diagnostics such as x-rays and / or an abdominal ultrasound. This something may have punctured her paw and left remnants behind or it penetrated the Paw without leaving anything in the paw. A clot that causes limping is VERY painful. We do not expect cats that have thrown clots to recover without significant treatment. So, that certainly makes it less likely that Luna had a clot. However, I would strongly recommend having her examined to see what is going on. It certainly is not normal for a 6 year old cat to be limping. If Luna does not do well at the vet, maybe a house call vet would be a good option for her. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Some pets bleed a little longer after a blood draw than others. When stressed pets bleed a little more. As long as the bleeding stopped I wouldn’t be concerned. If your pet had a blood draw yesterday the bandage needs to stay off now. Kisses to your pet!

Cats are actually somewhat of a prey species, so they are very good at hiding illnesses. I recommend keeping a close eye on Hobbes, and having her seen by a vet if this continues for the next 2 days or so. She should be seen sooner if you feel that she has declined or begins to show signs such as vomiting, diarrhea, or loss of appetite. I hope this helps and that all is well!

These are all good signs of improvement of blood flow and movement! Encourage her to gradually use the leg as much as possible and discuss with your veterinarian possible physiotherapy exercise (if she tolerates it) to speed up recovery. Hi Pamela, Sometimes basic blood work does not give us all the answers we need. If your vet did not include any treatment, I would recommend contacting them and letting them know that Moxie has continued to do poorly. They may recommend trying fluids or some other medications or may recommend rechecking her temperature and examination, then considering some additional tests. Good luck!
