My cat threw up, is sleepy, and not eating. Should I see a vet?

Time will tell with this one. Since she's eating, drinking, and not lethargic, you certainly don't need to seek emergency care tonight. If tomorrow she still seems out of sorts, or continues to vomit, I would recommend scheduling a vet appointment for exam and x-rays of her abdomen. I would definitely keep an eye on him, and if he vomits again or doesn't want to eat still, schedule a vet appointment. Issues such as minor GI upset, underlying illness, hairballs or obstructions, parasites, etc can all be possible causes of vomiting, which is why it's important to have it checked out if it continues more than once. If Lando seems in any obvious distress or pain (vocalizing, pacing, attempting to go potty but can't, tender to touch, etc), then he should be seen sooner.

While I would encourage you to have him seen as soon as possible, you know him best. If he seems to be resting quietly, & is not continuously vomiting, then you can wait a bit. If he is still vomiting, have him seen soon as the dehydration & loss of essential electrolytes can be quite detrimental on his body. Do not force any food or water on him, as this may make the vomiting worse. I hope he is feeling better soon. Take care.

Hello, sorry to hear about Kitty. I would definitely have him evaluated in case his cold is secondary from aspirating his vomit which could be causing him a pneumonia now. If he does have pneumonia now, he will need antibiotics and likewise if he has an upper respiratory infections. Hope this helps and best of luck.

Poor kitty. If Bleu is throwing up consistently (more than 2 times within a 24 hr period), then yes this is cause for concern that he may be ill and in need of medical attention. Also if he is lethargic and unwilling to eat, or throwing up water, then those are also causes for concern. A vet visit is needed to do necessary testing to find out what the underlying problem is so that he gets proper treatment. However, if he only had one or two bouts of vomiting, is otherwise acting normal, and has a good appetite, then I would recommend fasting him (no food, only water) for the next 12 hrs so that you don't continue to upset his stomach. Then after that offer him small amounts of a bland diet (tuna and white rice) for the next few days, then slowly transition him back to his normal diet. He may have just eaten something that upset his stomach or may even have an irritating hairball. I hope that this helps and I am hopeful that Bleu feels better soon. Best wishes and take care.

Vomiting can occur from many conditions such as kidney disease, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have Peaches evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. Hi there. With what you're describing, Sabrina should be seen by a vet ASAP. Vomiting can occur for several reasons, such as pancreatitis, intestinal blockage, viruses, etc. However, because she's vomiting and falling over, it does sound like she has something serious going and and she needs veterinary care.
