My cat threw up, is sleepy, and not eating. Should I see a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Male | neutered | 1 year and 6 months old

My cat vomited and didn't eat after that, also he's a little sleepy. It happened two times before several months but he would be ok after one day, should I let him for the day and see what happens? His eyes and nose looks normal

Hi and thanks for posting!

If Haru just vomited one time today, I wouldn't worry too much. However, if the vomiting continues and he is vomiting more frequently, then a veterinary visit would be warranted. I would recommend withholding food from Haru for the rest of the day to give his stomach a break and then slowly reintroduce food to him giving a small amount at a time. If the vomiting continues, please see your veterinarian.

I hope this helps and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
