My cat is vomiting and has bloody diarrhea. Is a second vet opinion needed?

I would talk to you veterinarian next week about gastrointestinal disease. With a continuously vomiting and diarrhea cat my concerns are Irritable bowel disease or even lymphoma. I would be less inclined it be intestinal parasites if Opie has been an indoor cat. I would not give the drontal today. I would recommend seeing a different veterinarian for a second opinion but Opie may need an abdominal ultrasound. If he is really have bad diarrhea and is still vomiting a lot a specialty hospital may be worth going to because the internist can perform the ultrasound. Poor kitten! I think you're in the right for trying to get in sooner to have her checked out by your vet. If she is bleeding a lot or is having severe diarrhea or vomiting, then seeking out care from another vet or even an emergency clinic may be a good idea. Keeping her bottom clean and dry can help, and feeding a bland meal of some boiled chicken may help as well until you can be seen.

It's possible there could be a parasite affecting both of them that started with the kitten, or something they got in to. I recommend they both be seen by your veterinarian. Bring a fecal sample with you to be checked for parasites.

Poor Sergio. If he is eating a different diet than he was before, that could be causing the stomach upset and diarrhea. It could also be that he is sick. Because he is vomiting, having diarrhea, and there appears to be blood in it, he's too sick for a home remedy. I'd take him into a vet immediately to get this treated. Best of luck.

I would recommend you take your cat to the vet on Monday. They can do a fecal examination to rule out intestinal parasites and possibly an X-ray to rule out a blockage/foreign body. Your vet can also give you some medication to help stop the diarrhea. If the diarrhea becomes bloody and/or your cat starts vomiting as well then I would recommend getting him in to an ER vet to make sure nothing too serious is going on.

Sorry to hear this. I'm sure this must be very frustrating and difficult to deal with. Unfortunately, I do recommend that Poppy goes back to the vet. Throwing up blood is very concerning, because this indicates that she is losing blood through her gastrointestinal tract, which can lead to anemia (low blood count). Kittens don't have much to lose, so it's imperative that she be evaluated and treated as soon as possible. I understand that it's difficult to keep taking Poppy back and forth to the vet. I also wouldn't have the time to do this during normal business hours. You may consider having her hospitalized until she gets better. You can ask your vet about this. Most vet clinics will offer for clients to drop their pet off and hospitalize them. This will be a bit more expensive, but may be worthwhile considering that she will likely need a few visits to the vet until the problem is completely taken care of. The blood you are seeing in the stools may be stress colitis. I suggest you do the following: 1.
