Cat vomited after new wet food. Is it safe to feed him before work?

If when you transition her to canned food she starts vomiting again, I highly recommend that you have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hello. I agree with you. If Milo is eating the wet food with no problems then skip the tonic & just continue to feed the wet food. Cats actually do better with a wet or canned food diet so if he does well on it, just continue. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. To be honest, you can probably just offer Esmeralda a small amount of her normal food. Start with about 1/4 of her normal meal size. If she keeps that down well, you can give her a little more in a few hours (or just give her her normal sized breakfast in the morning). But you first have to differentiate whethere whether Coix is vomting (obvious retching and forceful expulsion) or regurgitating (undigested food just seems to come out without much effort). Vomiting can be caused by inflammatory bowel disease, megaesophagus (typically causes regurgitation), a parasitic infection (not as common), or even an underlying congenital disorder. Most of these conditions are treatable. You should first start with some diagnostic testing to gather more information on your specific pets condition. Then we will know what needs to be done for Coix to help control his vomiting episodes a bit better. In general, you can continue to feed smaller portions and go with an easily digestible diet such as limited ingredient diets (i.e. Iams, Purina, Evo). This is something you can easily start while awaiting a proper vet visit and diagnostic work-up for Coix. I think it is best to withhold food from now until tomorrow morning to give her stomach a rest. You can feed her tomorrow morning and that way you will have a few hours before the appointment to see if she is going to continue to vomit. I don't recommend that you give her any over the counter medications at this stage. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

It's very likely to be the switch up of food. withhold food for 8 hours then offer him boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if he is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put him back gradually on his old food. If he continues vomiting or is not eating, take him to the vet to get treatment.
