What did my indoor cat vomit? Looks like plants, not worms.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The vomit looks like foreign material like hay or some sort of basket or string material. I would look around the house or outside and see what she is getting in to. It doesn't look like round worms to me. She is eating something she shouldn't be. I advise locating where she is getting it and removing it before it causes a blockage. Have a great day

I’m going to guess that this is a roundworm. It can be difficult to identify adult worms but it is usually much easier to identify eggs in a stool sample. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian for a stool analysis and to get the appropriate deworming medication.

Those pictures are fuzzy but I agree it looks like those could be worms. Cats will vomit up round worms (most commonly) which can spread to humans. I recommend to play it safe and have Mouse examined and treated by the veterinarian. He should be checked for other types of worms as well that you cannot see. He will need treatment for the worms and I also recommend to discuss getting him on a monthly preventative to help decrease the potential for future infestations. Submit the worm and a stool sample to your veterinarian to identify the specific parasite. You may need to repeat the deworming and then use a monthly preventative. The dewormer likely did not clear all the parasites, since it only affects the parasites at a certain stage in its lifecycle.

Hello. Without a picture, I can only guess , but your cat probably vomited up some cord like material he swallowed. Cats do like to eat anything that looks like string. It is possible he tried to ingest a small snake, too, but whatever it was, I would just be happy he vomited it up rather than it becoming an obstruction in his intestines that could have required hospitalization. From the picture, it looks like diarrhea to me. Make sure both kittens are up to date on their deworming treatments, as intestinal worms cause diarrhea. If they aren't up to date on it, give them both one. I still think having them checked out by a vet is the best idea, however, just to make sure they are ok. Best of luck.
