Can lack of vaccinations or being underweight cause a cat's death?

There are three very common diseases that cats get that can cause his symptoms: diabetes, kidney failure and hyperthyroidism. If left untreated, all can cause death. I doubt a virus has much to do with it but of course it is possible. As for the vitamins, if they were made for cats that is not likely the cause. If it was not cat vitamins then it is possible he was overdosed. Not all vitamins are safe in large doses. I am sorry this happened and that he passed. In the future please get your cat examined by a veterinarian before the disease has progressed to this point. When they start losing weight that should be a good indicator that something is wrong especially if they are not eating and lethargic as well. Best wishes.

I'm sorry that cat died! How terrible for you! Without seeing the cat in person, I can't say for certain what caused him to die, but he could have been injured or attacked leading to his symptoms. To protect the cats, yes you want to vaccinated and deworm them. Regular vet visit is recommended, and letting them stay indoors at night would also help protect them. I'd also recommend getting them spayed and neutered. I hope this helps!

It is difficult to say for sure but if it was progressed too far, there probably was not much you could have done. If caught early on, then maybe something could have been done. Viral infections such as feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus can cause chronic infections and can lead to death in some cats. She could have any one of these infectious diseases and there is no treatment for either disease. I am sorry for your loss but try not to blame yourself. I am so very sorry that you lost your cats. Please accept my condolences for your loss. Without seeing them in person, I can't say what caused them to die, but it may have been something contagious. It could have been something like feline Panleukopenia, it's highly contagious. The other option is they all got into something toxic. Again, I'm sorry for your loss.

If you noticed the skin lesions, weight loss and vomiting prior to your trip, then I would suspect that she was sick with a serious illness; which could have led her to passing. It's really difficult to know without having all of the details and being able to examine her body. The best way to get some good answers is to bring her remains to a veterinarian. They, or a veterinary pathologist (more expensive, but better option) can examine Lily and at-least narrow down some possibilies. I hope that helps and I'm really sorry for your loss.

It sounds like he was sick for a while given the symptoms you have described, and he could have been suffering from a systemic illness, liver failure, kidney failure, or even cancer leading to his death. I'm sorry that your cat had such an awful passing. Unfortunately, without an exam it would be hard to say. If there was a large parasite load, dying parasites can block/obstruct the intestines, and some parasites such as heartworm can block arteries leading to death, but it would be hard to say if this or another issue was the cause of Bendingo's passing. If you do get another cat, making sure they are regularly dewormed and up to date on vaccines can help them stay healthy. Working with your vet and having regular exams done can also help check for any health issues that need treatment as well.
