Cat has red skin & fur loss around penis after UTI. Is it urine burn?

It is unlikely related to the surgery from getting fixed but does look inflamed and infected. Because it has been going on so long, I would take him to the vet to be seen for treatment. They may need to a round of antibiotics and anti inflammatory to help improve it. I would suspect it is an allergy or a previous wound/injury that is just not healing correctly

The discharge does appear more brown than red. It also looks like there is a little hair at the top of the paper towel. If the discharge is coming from the skin around the prepuce, it is possible that Hugo has a bacterial or more commonly yeast overgrowth on his skin that is causing the discharge. Your vet can look at a sample under the microscope to determine if that is the case. It is common that cats can develop skin infections in areas that hold moisture. You vet will be able to prescribe a medicated wipe to keep the area clean that may contain an antibiotic or an anti-fungal medication depending on what they find under the microscope. Good luck! This looks like a moderate inflammation/infection of the skin surrounding the area. It could be due to urine scald, which means that there is some other problem causing the urine to collect there. This could also be due to Ace not being able to groom herself properly. It's difficult to tell with all the fluff, but Ace appears to be a big kitty. If Ace is obese, then she will not be able to properly groom herself back there and could explain why she's going after her tail - she can't reach the spot she needs to groom, so she grooms the nearest spot she can reach. Hi, and thanks for your question. This presentation could be due to a trauma (bite wound, or a burn) or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any). I can understand being concerned about Buddy. If he was blocked, he would be going to the litter box multiple times, would be straining to urinate, would be yowling in pain when he tries to urinate, and would pass only small amounts of urine or no urine at all. If you see any of those signs, rush him into a vet immediately. It could be he is suffering from feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones causing him to lick his penis. Yes, this is similar to a diaper rash - where the skin gets irritated by the filth and sometimes infected. The fact that it's not as red anymore is a good sign that it's healing. The hair loss is not too concerning right now, because this will often happen when the old skin and hair grows out after being damaged and new skin and hair is growing in. I recommend keeping this area clean by just flushing with cool water once a day. Gently wipe away any debris and pat dry after flushing. Avoid scrubbing, or putting any ointments, soaps, or antiseptics on this area, because this can actually irritate the skin and delay healing. I hope that helps and all is well with the kittens.

It sounds like Nesca has some clipper burn from having her fur shaved. You can give Nesca an oatmeal bath that will help with the irritation from the clipper rash. Do not put any topical antibiotic ointment on it unless prescribed by the vet. That's because cats groom and ingest most of the topical ointment you apply and therefore should be used only under direct veterinary supervision and if there are no other appropriate options. Many human ointments contain multiple other ingredients which are not necessarily safe to be swallowed. You can give you vet a call to let them know Nesca has some clipper burn, and they can recommend a safe treatment for her.
