My cat hates oral worm meds. Are there topical treatments?

I usually use Stronghold or Revolution. These products are spot on though but they are very effective. Otherwise there are different tablets for fleas and worms (one for worms and a different one for parasites). It depends on which type of worms you are talking about. Revolution does not kill tapeworms which is what I am guessing you are referring to. Profender will kill tapeworms. So, I would suggest you do both but don't put them on at the same time. I would do one, and then wait 7-10 days before applying the other one. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It looks like a roundworm. You should apply Revolution on Ninny as this product is effective against roundworms. However, if the worms come back, you should go for de-wormer in tablets, for example Drontal.

There are many different products for flea and worm treatment, but many have the same ingredients and work just as well as the others; so there's really no superior product amongst them. However, some stores will sell homeopathic products, or products labeled as natural, that are either not effective or far less effective than the medicated products. For this reason, I recommend only getting a product that is recommended by a veterinarian. In order to know this, Toby will have to be tested for worms at a veterinary clinic. Considering one of your cats has long-standing diarrhea, I recommend a visit to your veterinarian sometime soon. Long-term diarrhea is more concerning of an infection, or primary condition of the intestines like IBD. Worms are not a common cause of long-term diarrhea. Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. There are many over the counter products available in pet stores in the U.S. that are good dewormers. Milbemax, Revolution, Drontal, Strongid, Panacur, are some examples. I recommend calling your local vet to ask which products are most efficacious and available in your area, and you can get them from the store. For feral cats, the biggest problem is getting the medication into them, so you can talk with your vet about pills vs. liquids. If you are feeding them then a tablet in the food might work, but only if you are feeding them separately. Best of luck with the kitties!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I like Bravecto for flea and ticks. It is a topical that works for 3 months. Then I would use interceptor monthly for heartworm and intestinal parasites. Or you can use Advantage Multi and the Seresto collar for the ticks. But you are right there isn't a product that gets everything for dogs or cats. Have a great day!
