My cat with thyroid isn't eating & has bloody diarrhea. What to do?

Oh my. Poor kitty. Once a kitty gets this sick it is imperative to take them to the vet right away for testing and treatment. She could have a number of things going on with her including w foreign body obstruction, Toxin ingestion or even underlying kidney disease. It is unlikely she will get better without veterinary care. You can try offering her a small amount of tuna or boiled plain chicken and rice and 1-2 tsp of karo syrup to keep her blood glucose up tonight if you absolutely cannot get her seen right away. But an ER vet visit should be highly considered if possible. If not then get her seen as soon as possible tomorrow morning. I hope that your cat Dinah is able to make a full and speedy recovery. If she is bleeding a lot or is having severe diarrhea or vomiting, then seeking out care from another vet or even an emergency clinic may be a good idea. Keeping her bottom clean and dry can help, and feeding a bland meal of some boiled chicken may help as well until you can be seen.

Hyperthyroidism could certainly cause diarrhea so if you are waiting on lab work, or waiting for thyroid medication to take effect you may want to give it a little more time. It sounds like your veterinarian has potentially recommended some other treatments for diarrhea like a diet change to rule out a food sensitivity. Inflammatory bowel disease, infectious diseases or an intestinal mass could also cause diarrhea, so you may want to talk to your veterinarian about what the next diagnostic step might be - they might recommend an abdominal ultrasound or advanced fecal testing. If you have not tried a probiotic or antibiotics for the diarrhea you may want to ask your vet if they would help while you're waiting on diagnostic test results.

Mittens is a lovely looking girl! Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do at home for her, she has to see a vet as soon as possible because she sounds quite sick. It's serious that she's had diarrhea with blood in it, she's not eating much, she's quite thirsty, and is lethargic. This is concerning that you can't get Lissy to eat anything, and I would take her into a vet immediately. It could be that she isn't one the correct dose of thyroid medication or there is another medical problem going on with her. Leaving cats who aren't eating is very dangerous, as if they don't eat going on 72 hours, they develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. I'm sorry to hear that Cleo isn't eating as well as she normal does. Hyperthyroidism typically causes weight loss despite an increase in appetite, although rare cats may experience a decreased appetite. The change in Cleo's appetite alone may or may not be associated with hyperthyroidism. Other causes of this sudden lack of interest in food and lethargy could be related to a gastrointestinal virus, kidney disease, parasites, liver disease, among many other conditions. If she still isn't eating normally in the next day or two, Cleo should go to her vet for evaluation and likely blood testing. However, if she becomes experiences extreme lethargy, experiences profuse vomiting or diarrhea, or will not drink water, Cleo should go to the vet immediately. I would recommend you take your cat to the vet on Monday. They can do a fecal examination to rule out intestinal parasites and possibly an X-ray to rule out a blockage/foreign body. Your vet can also give you some medication to help stop the diarrhea. If the diarrhea becomes bloody and/or your cat starts vomiting as well then I would recommend getting him in to an ER vet to make sure nothing too serious is going on.
