My cat is throwing up foamy liquid and crying in distress, what to do?

My cat is throwing up salvia and foam and I don’t know what is causing it. She is also giving alittle cry meow.

Poor kitty! She could have a severe GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, a foreign body, or pancreatitis. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. It's always a bit worrying when a cat vomits, but since Luna is otherwise acting normally, I can give you a home remedy for her. I recommend withholding food for 12 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Snowy could have a stomach illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, or pancreatitis causing the vomiting. I can give you a home remedy for her to see if that helps. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.

You need to take her into a vet right away, she sounds very ill. It's actually quite serious when a cat won't eat, and if she doesn't eat for 72 hours, she will develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. She needs veterinary care, please take her into one immediately.

My cat is vomiting foam and has diarrhea. New kitten or plant?

It sounds as California is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better. if the vet thinks it is more serious she will need a blood test and possibly an ultrasound in order to find out what is wrong.

As a first approach, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken/white fish and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Depending on her exam findings, diagnostic tests such as blood work and x-rays may be discussed. A treatment plan, including fluids to rehydrate her, will be formulated. She could have eaten a foreign object that is causing an obstruction in gastrointestinal tract. Intestinal infections or generalized inflammation can cause vomiting as well. There could be several things that is causing your cat to vomit. Some of the more common things that cause vomiting and anorexia in a cat are gastritis (inflammation of the stomach wall), pancreatitis, intestinal parasites, and irritable bowel disease. I would withhold food from your cat for about 24 hours to give the stomach some time to rest. If she is continuing to vomit or still not eating after this, then I would recommend taking her in to see your vet. They can give her nausea medication and fluids if she is dehydrated.
