Why is my cat suddenly so obsessed with me and acting so clingy?

A sudden change in behavior, such as being more clingy, can be a sign of illness in cats. I'd have Sylvester checked out by a vet this week just to make sure everything is ok with him. If he is healthy, it may just be he's feeling rather cuddly, and wants a lot of love and attention from your husband. That sounds like normal cat behavior. She is very comfortable with you and loves you. If you can't have her bothering you, like when you are practicing piano, it is best to put her in another room until you are done. I don't think there is anything wrong with her as long as she is eating, drinking, peeing and pooping normally.

Certainly personalities can change as cats get older, but i would recommend making sure there isn't a medical explanation for her behavior. We see conditions like hyperthyroidism (a high thyroid level) which can cause increased activity as one of its first signs. However, there are some diseases that may cause changes in attitude. This includes hyperthyroidism and rarely acromegaly. Other signs with these diseases include increased drinking and urinations, a ravenous appetite, and weight loss. This can be screened with routine bloodwork, so have him evaluated by your veterinarian for these. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I'm so sorry to hear about Bayleigh! My very first thought is that she needs to go in for an exam and to have bloodwork done. Hyperthyroidism can cause everything you're describing and is treatable. Another medical explanation could be pain. A hurt back, etc. can make even the nicest cat an absolute nightmare. Finally, though I hate to say it, brain tumors, adrenal gland tumors, and dementia are also possible (though usually they do not come on so quickly).
