Why is my cat so clingy and always on me? Is this normal behavior?

From what you are describing I sounds like you and Milo have a strong bond which is wonderful. Yes, cats love to curl up on people or touching them especially when it’s cold. My male cat is very vocal and he talks when he wants something so that is probably what going on with yours. Yes, this is also common behavior. One of my cats sleeps nestled in the crook of my neck at night, another likes sleeping on my hip or chest at night. Cats like it warm, so sleeping on your body is like a heating blanket for them, and at the same time they feel secure.

Kittens will try to sniff food to see if it is appetizing to them, and will try to eat it if it smells good. You may not be feeding her enough, and I would check the instructions on her food to make sure that she is getting the recommended daily allowance. It is not advisable to feed her human food, as there are many that are toxic to cats. I would try to keep her from eating your food, and increase her food as needed.

It's possible Spirit may feel a bit anxious when you're gone. Cats can become clingy and exhibit the behaviors listed when they are feeling anxious. A good first step is always to schedule a vet checkup and rule out any possibility of illness that may be causing these behaviors as well. That said, if Spirit checks out healthy, there are a few things you can do to help. When you leave the house, playing a soothing talk show on TV or on the radio can help, as well as placing pheromone diffusers/calming collars on spirit to help her relax. You can also get her more used to you leaving by only leaving for a few minutes, then coming back. Make sure to not make a big deal out of the event when leaving, so she doesn't anticipate it and start to become anxious. A good play session to get her tired out before you leave can also help reduce anxiety as she'll likely just want to sleep while you're away. If the issue continues, or worsens, talking with a veterinary behaviorist may help as they can create a more tailored plan and see what's going on in-person.

As with any sudden behavioral change, an exam to rule out any health issues is always the best first option. If the weather is changing rapidly and you are seeing her seek out warmer spots such as blankets, by heater vents, etc that could also be related to the behavior. Adding a warm blanket out of the dryer to her bed, or providing a place for her to sleep near a heater may help. However, if you are concerned enough about the change, a vet exam for a bit of peace of mind is always good.
