My cat suddenly flopped and fell, then was fine. What happened?

This very concerning. Your kitty could have had an epileptic seizure or a so-called syncope. Syncopes are caused by the brain not getting enough oxygenized blood, which in turn causes the cat to get unconscious, or a seizure like episode. These syncopes are often caused by heart disease or, in a case of a young animal, it could be a sign of a congenital defect. I suggest you make an appointment with your veterinarian for an exam, and do mention this episode to your vet. You may want to write down the particulars, so your vet gets as accurate a description as possible from you. This said, it also may have just been a one-time occurrence, with unknown cause.

There is a possibility that your kitty had a seizure, or fell unconscious due to a heart condition. When you were cuddling with him, he got really excited which could have triggered a seizure or a syncope (unconsciousness due to not enough oxygen getting to the brain). I strongly suggest you have Scooter examined by your veterinarian.

It could be an idiopathic seizure, meaning there is no known cause. Hi there. Sorry about Tom-these episodes you are describing make me worried he may have either seizure episodes or heart problems-causing him to pass out from time to time. If it has happened multiple times, it is definitely time to take him in to your vet for an exam. Sorry to hear that Sassy isn't acting right. If she seems to act completely fine after these episodes, it is highly unlikely that we are dealing with a seizure condition. Seizures are usually coupled with long periods of disorientation afterwards lasting hours to days. You may be seeing episodes similar to fainting or partial loss of consciousness. These episodes are typically associated with cardiovascular health such as a blood flow issue or a primary cardiac disease. Cats can throw clots resulting in a condition known as saddle thrombus. When this happens they tend to have very cold extremities, and also tend to be EXTREMELY painful. If Sassy does not appear to be in considerable distress and pain, this is not likely to be the case. I would definitely recommend having her examined as soon as possible to check for any sort of cardiac dysfunction. I would also make sure to have her blood drawn and to have a blood pressure checked. These will be important diagnostic tests to determine what may be happening. Hope this helps!

Lewis needs to be examined by the veterinarian. Weakness is never normal and can indicate many conditions ranging from an electrolyte imbalance to cancer. Lewis needs a physical exam to begin figuring out what is wrong and he will likely needs blood work +/- radiographs. Just like humans, the sooner problems are diagnosed the better the prognosis. I've never had a cat overstimulate due to petting before. I would be concerned about a primary seizure disorder. I would want to rule out an infectious cause versus epilepsy and evaluate organ functions as well.
