Why does my cat suddenly have a small bald spot on her face?

Hello. It is very difficult to know exactly what this might be, but it does resemble a healing abscess. If she is constantly licking the spot, then you might want to put a light Elizabethan collar on her to prevent further self-trauma. But, if she is not bothering the area, then just keep an eye on this for the time being. Anything you put on it will just get her licking it off & perhaps doing more damage to the skin. It could be from an injury but it could also be a sign of feline acne. Without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. I'd have her seen by a vet to have this diagnosed and treated. I see what you mean about the bald spot, and I agree it looks like the fur is regrowing. Honestly, I would do nothing. It doesn't look infected and fur is growing back. Just leave it be. Palpate that area to make sure there is nothing that feels like a mass or swelling under the area. If that is related to a wound, the hair should starts to come back in a couple weeks. If it remains bald, you detect swelling or it gets worse, have Dora examined by her veterinarian. It possibly related to trauma but an abscess, skin mites or deeper infection is possible as well. The causes can easily be differentiated by the clinical signs associated with it and the physical exam findings. If Freckles is only showing some hair loss without scratching or overgrooming then it could conditions such as alopecia areata that can affect cats and usually resolves on its own. If there is evidence of scratching and you start noticing some redness or irritation associated with it, then other conditions such as allergies are possible. If you notice him overgrooming himself in that area then it could be something like psychogenic alopecia which is more of a behavioral issue. I think that since he is not having overt clinical signs and it is mostly hair loss, I think it is possibly transient and could resolve on its own. You can monitor this closely and if it does not resolve or it worsens then have him examined by your veterinarian. Good luck!

I personally would leave this alone - don't try to touch it or treat it. I looks like it could be just a minor injury in which case it will heal just fine on it's own. If after a week to ten days it is not improved or it looks worse then you should Layla to your vet for an exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
