My cat is stressed after moving. How to stop her night meowing?

I'm sorry to hear that Mary is having such a difficult time with the addition of your brother's cat. I have a few suggestions for you. One option for decreasing stress is to add a Feliway Diffuser ( https://www.feliway.com ) to your house. This is a calming pheromone that will work for a month. Lovely Mars! You cold try with Zylkene (check the website: http://www.zylkenepet.co.uk) but if she refuses to eat is quite difficult to administer without pilling her and increase her distress. Try to offer nice and smelly food, her favorite, to encourage Mars to come out from the create. Create a cosy environment (a small rooms is ideal) where she can feel safe without people getting in and out or strong noises. If the problem persist I would have a chat with a veterinarian expert in behavior that will be happy to provide an home visit. Please post again on the forum for further advices. He there. I would recommend a natural product called Feliway. They have an awesome website about cats and stress. http://www.feliway.com/us/#redirected Their product is basically "happy cat pheromones " that is very calming to cats. These products work great! I would certainly give it a shot. If it doesn't help you may want to take him to a vet for an exam. Older cats can have medical issues that can cause discomfort. I hope this helps. Best wishes!

Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! Poor Cassie! How long have you been in your new place? Even if Cassie always adjusted quickly doesn't mean she always will. There maybe something about your new duplex that is causing stress" the smell, the sounds, the size? I would try to enrich her environment: play with her, get cat trees for her to climb, get beds she can hide in, get shelves you can put at a window so she can watch the birds (get a bird feeder) and I would consider getting the Feliway diffuser to help calm her. Ultimately if time and the above do not help her settle in, you may need to discuss anti-anxiety medications with your Vet. Which I would anticipate would be temporary. If at-home treatments haven't been helping you may want to talk to your vet about a short-term sedative or anxiety medication that may help Watson during the transition and is a little more powerful than calming treats or pheromone diffusers. Once he seems settled in, you may then be able to gradually back off the medication and return to normal. Ruling out any health issues while you are there such as pain, blindness, hearing issues, etc may also be helpful as these can cause confusion and yowling in cats as well. Adding in a few nightlights, especially if Watson is an older cat that may have trouble seeing may help him calm down, especially if the yowling happens at night. Providing plenty of places for him to hide, perch, or explore safely may also help him to settle in.
