My cat screamed after I stepped on her. How to check for injury?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 2 months and 21 days old

I accidentally stepped on my cat , i didn't really see which part because i freaked out , she screamed and ran but when i went to check on her she seemed fine and after that she started playing and running normaly, i carried her and checked her paws and everything and she seems fine, but i still want to know how to make sure that she's okay and nothing hurts her?

I am sorry to hear about Kiara! I would watch her walk around and be sure she isn't limping. Check each foot including the toes, and flex and extend each of her 4 legs checking for sensitivity/swelling/bruising, check along her tail, and gently press along her spine. If nothing abnormal is noted I would not be concerned. If she does have a painful area or swelling/bruising then a trip to the vet would be recommended.

Poor girl! If she is walking around okay and acting normal and she isn’t breathing heavy then she is likely okay. Of course I cannot say for sure without seeing her. To be 100% sure, I would have your vet or local emergency vet take a look at her. They will be able to do chest and abdomena X-rays to ensure everything looks okay. they will also be able to start her on pain meds if needed. I hope this Helps !

It is a good sign that she is not longer limping and isn't painful when you touch her paw. My hope is that she just strain/sprained the paw and scared herself. I would try to rest her for a day or 2 and watch for return of the limp. If she starts to limp again and it persists then I would take her to the Vet. Otherwise I think she will be fine. Do not give her any human medications as cats can not tolerate them and they are toxic.

I would make sure that it is walking properly and does not appear to be having any issues with balance or equilibrium. If none of these seem to be a problem, going to the vet right away might not be necessary. If over the next 24 hours, you start to see any issues that may be attributable to pain or shock, have your kitten checked out by your veterinarian. Lastly, make sure that your dad has no more access to your cat since he clearly doesn't know how to handle one properly. If this means finding it a new home, it may be in its best interest.

My cat fell from balcony. Paw hurts, growls when touched. What to do?

Wow, I’m glad she is walking fine and using the box. You’re very lucky she wasn’t more injured. I expect she is bruised and painful. I recommend keeping her quiet and monitoring her to make sure she’s eating, drinking and walking normally. There is no safe over the counter pain medication for cats. If she’s still painful or becomes worse I recommend a veterinary exam. They can give a safe prescription medication for pain in cats if needed. Cats generally heal well on their on their own given time and rest. That was a bad fall though so please to take her in right away if you see a medical problem develop. Hello, it sounds like Jinxx is ok from what you're describing. Signs of more severe injuries may include lameness, vocalizing, hiding, pain, decreased appetite. If Jinxx seems to be aware of everything and is acting like her normal self then she should be ok. If you note any of these signs then contact your veterinarian and have her evaluated. My kitten was stepped on, breathing funny, and limping. What to do?

Ideally, Aries should be physically examined by your veterinarian. If he is breathing normally, not lethargic, has pink gums and is not extremely painful, then you can likely have him examined first thing tomorrow. X-rays of the paw and leg may be indicated to diagnose any fractures. If you can, restrict his activity for the rest of the night. Use a cat carrier if you have one. If he is very painful or if his breathing becomes labored and he is lethargic, then he should be examined tonight at the nearest veterinary ER.

Kitten struggling to walk, back rounded. Is it a paw or back injury?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I strongly recommend taking the kitten to the vet. She may have an injury to that leg, or to her back. She may require x-rays if a fracture is suspected. in the meantime keep her confined to a small area such as a dog crate - room enough for sleeping, food, water and litter box but no running or playing. Do not give her any pain medications as many are toxic to cats.
