My cat's eye is squinty with brownish discharge. Is it serious?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 13 lbs

I have a 1 1/2 year old Orange short hair tabby cat. His right eye has been really squinty and had some brownish discharge for about a week. Should I be worried and should I seek vet attention?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If it has been going on that long I would seek medical attention. There may be an ulcer or a scratch on the cornea (which you may not be able to see) that needs to be addressed. Kisses to Fuego!
