My cat's spay incision has a yellow pimple. Is this normal or serious?

Hello, I am glad your kitten is recovering smoothly from her procedure. It looks like the skin may be a little dry from the cleaning agents used to prep patients for surgery. However, this should resolve/improve within a few days. If at her 10-14 day post-operative, her skin is still not looking healed, your veterinarian may chose to perform additional diagnostics at the site. Alternatively, if your kitten is licking at the area, she may be causing some irritation to the skin there. Please make sure she is not licking the area by placing an e-collar on her if necessary. Monitor the are for any swelling, redness, discharge and contact your veterinarian if you note any as this could indicate a local infection or reaction to the suture material. Ideally the wound should be covered by using a plaster (primapore), a pet shirt or a net bandage. Please post a picture of it on the forum so we will be able to give you a more specific answer and advices on how likely an infection is. Antibiotics might be needed.

This sounds like it is likely a seroma (a fluid pocket under the skin), or a tissue reaction to the suture material - both of these are quite common in cats after spay surgery, and should not cause any serious problems. Less commonly, the swelling could be caused by an infection or even a hernia. If Leia is acting normal (eating and drinking fine, playful, etc.), you can monitor the bump until it's time for her stitches to be removed. Applying a warm compress like a warm wet washcloth to the area 2-3 times a day can help the swelling to resolve faster, as well as restricting her activity as much as possible. If Leia is acting very lethargic or not eating, or if there is any bleeding or yellow-green discharge from the bump, these may be signs of infection - in that case, I would take her to the vet today for an exam and antibiotics or other medication if needed.

It’s actually fairly common for cats to have a suture reaction in the subcutaneous layer of tissue but not the muscle and linea alba. While it’s impossible to know exactly how everything looked I too would have left body wall sutures in place if there seemed to be normal healing since reopening the abdominal incision could increase risk for contamination in the abdomen. It looks like the wound is completely closed even though the sutures are falling apart, for now i only recommend monitoring it, it doesn't look bad at all, give it a few more days, if it seems to be getting worse take her to your vet to get it treated.

Yes it looks like healing normally. I would just monitor that small bump in case it gets bigger. Otherwise it looks like dry and not inflamed. Yes that could be due to a injection site reaction most likely. This type of skin reaction is usually self limiting and fur most of the times grows back. If not resolving in a weeks time or if getting swollen/inflamed/red/painful a vet check up is needed as abscess can sometimes build up and needs to be treated appropriately (lanced, flushed, disinfected).
