My new cat is sneezing. What about milk, AC, and feeding schedules?

Sneezing is common in cats and can be a sign of mild allergies. I wouldn't be too terribly concerned, unless you start seeing nasal discharge, decreased appetite, or wheezing. Let it run its course and if things don't improve or seem to worsen after about 3-4 days, then you should get Dale seen by your vet for some allergy medication and other treatments (i.e. antibiotics) if needed. If she is having upper respiratory signs associated with the inhalation of the water and the milk such as changes in breathing, difficulty swallowing, nasal discharge, weakness, loss of appetite or other changes, please take her into see her veterinarian soon as she may have developed pneumonia from aspirating the liquids. She may need a chest x-ray to confirm this and may need to be on antibiotics for a while. If she appears normal otherwise, just keep an eye on herald take her in if any of the above signs are witnessed.

Congratulations on adding Kobe to your family. I would be most suspicious of an upper respiratory infection. He may need antibiotics. Sometimes lysine for cats can help as well. Ideally feed him what he was eating at the shelter for now so that you don;t upset his tummy. The food I recommend is Royal Canin. It's highly digestible and has a good fiber blend so constipation issues are rare and the stool has less odor (for most cats). I hope this helps.

This is common in young cats and in most cases it responds to antibiotics. I recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The most common reason for sneezing and clear nasal discharge in kittens are viral infections. The kitten usually gets better in 7-14 days. If the sneezing gets worse or the nasal discharge becomes cloudy, yellow or green Mika may have developed a secondary bacterial infection. She would then need antibiotics. Canned cat food has a lot of water in it. You can add water to the canned food to increase water intake. If she is doing well she is likely getting all the water she needs. Especially if she is producing urine regularly. I hope this helps and I wish you and Mika the best!

Poor Cloud! With the sneezing he could have a simple respiratory infection or he could have something more serious like pneumonia or a viral infection. I would recommend to get him to a vet for an exam, diagnostics, and possible medications to help make him feel better. Since he is so small I would make sure you are continuing to feed him every 2-3 hours and try to get him to a vet soon.

Hi and thank you for your post on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I would not recommend giving Apple Cider Vinegar to your kitten that may have a cold or the flu. There is no research to say it benefits a cold or upper respiratory infection and can be very irritating for her kitty to swallow. Kittens may begin receiving vaccines at 8 week of age. Sneezing occasionally may be a symptom of an upper respiratory infection or it may not be anything at all depending on the frequency and severity. If the sneezing is happening very frequently and is associated with nasal discharge, she may have an infection what will need antibiotic treatment from your veterinarian. If it is just occasional, I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it becomes more frequent or is associated with nasal or ocular discharge. I hope this helps and thanks again for your post!
