My cat's poop and rear smell awful. Could his diet be the cause?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female

I am just wondering my little boys poo really smells and also his behind. I am wondering if it's the food but my other cat who is older also eats it and has all her time. I feed them Science diet indoor cat food. Even when I was feeding him kitten food it was the same. What can I do?

I am sorry to hear about your concern for Sparkles! Perhaps her GI flora (natural bacteria that live in the GI tract and are good for us) is out of balance. I would recommend trying to put her on a probiotic such as Purina Fortiflora https://www.proplanveterinarydiets.com/products/fortiflora-cats-probiotics/?utm_campaign=vdp-branded2019&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_content=cat-unknown-unknown-feeding&utm_term=fortiflora%20for%20cats&gclid=Cj0KCQjwoInnBRDDARIsANBVyAR5geKooBJUVju41TVYnXlY7CZT2ruv8V21NMcH5j38gYlzF8c82_oaAvGnEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds to see if this improves the odor!
