My cat's raw food causes stinky, wet poop. How can I fix it?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 26 days old | 5 lbs

I feed my ragdoll with raw breast chicken and orijen cat & kitten dry food, and his poop stinks and wet. I know that raw feeding is good for them but why is his poop stinks so bad. If its because of raw feeding what should i do to get his poop back to normal. (His poop is wet and brownish but not watery) thank you in advance!

Raw diets, particularly meat, can cause bacterial infections such as E. coli and salmonella. I recommend stopping the raw food and seeing if that helps your cats feces. If it is still stinky it could be a G.I. parasite or infection and your veterinarian needs to do an exam.
