My cat had a seizure. How do I know if she's okay without a vet?

It could be an idiopathic seizure, meaning there is no known cause. There is a potential it could happen again, so I do think he should see a vet as soon as possible to get checked out, taking him into an ER vet tonight if you can. Best of luck.

It sounds like the cat may have had a seizure. If he is acting fine at the moment I think it will be okay to wait. They will most likely want to run a full workup on him. Bloodwork and X-rays. Good luck!!

It can take 7-10days after a seizure for everything to return towards normal and some mild twitching/seixure activity is not uncommon. There are specific diets which have some anecdotal evidence and a high protein high fat diet such as hills m/d would be worthwhile considering.

Sorry to hear that Sassy isn't acting right. If she seems to act completely fine after these episodes, it is highly unlikely that we are dealing with a seizure condition. Seizures are usually coupled with long periods of disorientation afterwards lasting hours to days. You may be seeing episodes similar to fainting or partial loss of consciousness. These episodes are typically associated with cardiovascular health such as a blood flow issue or a primary cardiac disease. Cats can throw clots resulting in a condition known as saddle thrombus. When this happens they tend to have very cold extremities, and also tend to be EXTREMELY painful. If Sassy does not appear to be in considerable distress and pain, this is not likely to be the case. I would definitely recommend having her examined as soon as possible to check for any sort of cardiac dysfunction. I would also make sure to have her blood drawn and to have a blood pressure checked. These will be important diagnostic tests to determine what may be happening. Hope this helps!

I do not think it's related to killing those mice, Epilepsy in cats is not very common either, you will have to monitor her, if it happens again in the next couple weeks, you will need to take her to the vet in order to get it checked (full blood test).

I highly recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible for further assessment and treatment. Diagnostics that will be recommended will include bloodwork and advanced imaging such as an MRI. Some animals will become very lethargic and disoriented While others may become more affectionate and more energetic. If the seizures have not been addressed by a veterinarian, I would certainly recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate Diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. If the seizures are becoming more frequent and longer in duration, she likely needs an anti-seizure medication to prevent these from happening.
