My cat is scooting with matted poop and pain. Does she need a vet?

I would base the decision on going to the emergency clinic more on his attitude and behavior. If he continues to seem distressed then maybe consider going tonight. It is possible that he is having discomfort from an anal sac infection or from constipation. Do the white spots move? Do they look like rice? If so they may be tapeworm segments. Keep a sample of the feces in a ziplock type bag for your veterinarian to see. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon.

Sometimes a piece of litter will stick to the hair around the rectum or penis, & rather than groom it off, a cat will scoot. However, with the report that Pumpkin has had a loose stool in the past month, I would not be surprised if he had some intestinal parasites, possibly roundworms, or tapeworms. No emergency to have him seen by your veterinarian, just take him in at your convenience. Take care.

Poor Willow! There is a chance that she could have full, impacted or infected anal glands, or intestinal worms if she is licking her hind end. If she is lethargic and not eating or drinking normally, she see a vet immediately. Otherwise, it may be okay to wait until tomorrow. I hope that she feels better soon!

it also could be because of impacted anal glands. If you could take Cleo to your local vets for a check-up that will be great. Impacted anal glands can cause pain during defecation. What is more, it can turn into an abscess if left untreated.

I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Your vet can perform a rectal and check the glands. Her loose stool may be dietary related. I would consider switching her diet and adding in a probiotic such as Purina fortiflora which can be found online quite easily. It is a little difficult to say exactly what is going on with Daisy - she may have a recital prolapse (a condition where some of the tissue in the rectum actually comes out) or chronic irritation if she is scooting on carpeted areas. Scooting may be related to anal gland impactions, infections, or intestinal parasites. I recommend having Daisy seen by a vet as soon as possible because she is likely uncomfortable and the conditions above require treatment. I hope all is well!
