Why is my spayed indoor cat scooting her rear but has no worms?

It sounds like Minerva isn’t feeling well. The fact that she is not enjoying her favorite treats and food, as well as vomiting, is an indication that her stomach is upset. Sometimes parasites are the cause. Scooting her bottom on the floor can indicate parasites as can the upset stomach. Not all worms are visible to the naked eye and not all worms pass out in the stool. Stomach upset can also be due to many other causes including inflammatory bowel disease and bacterial overgrowth. Scooting her bottom on the floor could also be related to anal gland problems, or if she had diarrhea and could feel some of the feces still stuck to her rectum. If the signs have been going on for over 48 hours, I would recommend to have her seen by the veterinarian. Try to bring in a fresh sample of the stool in case the doctor wants to test for worms. it also could be because of impacted anal glands. If you could take Cleo to your local vets for a check-up that will be great. Impacted anal glands can cause pain during defecation. What is more, it can turn into an abscess if left untreated.

Sometimes a piece of litter will stick to the hair around the rectum or penis, & rather than groom it off, a cat will scoot. However, with the report that Pumpkin has had a loose stool in the past month, I would not be surprised if he had some intestinal parasites, possibly roundworms, or tapeworms. No emergency to have him seen by your veterinarian, just take him in at your convenience. Take care.

Vomiting and regurgitation are sometimes seen with conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis and chronic kidney disease, among many other conditions. The scooting could make worms likely. Given Sasha's young age and the fact that she is otherwise doing fine, dietary indiscretion appears more likely. It may be something as easy as just changing her diet to something that she can tolerate better. However, an examination by a veterinarian as well as minimal diagnostic data would be needed to rule out more concerning things. You can start by changing her diet to a sensitive stomach type diet. If no improvement, have her examined by a veterinarian to start therapy if needed based on findings. Good luck!

I would recommend having a veterinarian examine her so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Your vet can perform a rectal and check the glands. Her loose stool may be dietary related. I would consider switching her diet and adding in a probiotic such as Purina fortiflora which can be found online quite easily. The most common cause for scooting is allergies, which could be to fleas, foods, or the environment. Other causes include anal gland irritation (often secondary to the allergies) and intestinal parasites. I would recommend having Mindy examined by a vet, but not necessarily as an emergency.

Please, de-worm Aldo (you can buy de-worming medications over the counter) but if there is no improvement after a few days, you should take her to your local vets to get her anal glands checked.
