Why is my cat scooting and PrettyLitter turning blue? Vet needed?

Sometimes a piece of litter will stick to the hair around the rectum or penis, & rather than groom it off, a cat will scoot. However, with the report that Pumpkin has had a loose stool in the past month, I would not be surprised if he had some intestinal parasites, possibly roundworms, or tapeworms. No emergency to have him seen by your veterinarian, just take him in at your convenience. Take care.

Try to bring a urine sample to the vet with you or don't let her urinate a few hours before the appointment so the Vet can collect urine. Frida is a young girl and I am assuming otherwise doing well. At a minimum your Vet will do a urinalysis which looks for blood, protein, crystals, white blood cells and bacteria in the urine. Based on that they may send extra urine out to the lab to culture it. Struvite crystals are common when a urinary tract infection is present and we hope once the infection is treated the crystals will go away. If there is an infection your Vet will prescribe an antibiotic in either a pill, liquid or injectable form based on your ability to medicate her. If there are just crystals and no infection they may check for bladder stones or start her on a prescription urinary diet. i wish you and Frida Katio the best is luck!

I recommend to have Finn examined by the veterinarian. The runny stool and the unusual behavior both are suspicious for illness. If Finn feels pain when having a bowel movement, this makes him think the litter box is the cause and he may look for other places to relieve himself. Bring a stool sample for testing. Poor kitty. Cats can have blood in their urine as a result of stress, bladder stones or even an underlying urinary tract infection. As long as he is urinating readily with no excessive straining, vocalization, or lethargy, he shouldn't be in any immediate danger. I would recommend taking him in to your vet within the next day or two to have a urinalysis done so that he can ge properly diagnosed and treated. Until then, continue to monitor him for any of the symptoms that I mentioned above, which would warrant an emergency visit to the vet. Otherwise, a regular vet visit is appropriate. He may not be marking his territory, he may have a medical illness like feline idiopathic cystitis (stress can be a factor in that, and since you have had a change in schedule, that could be stress for him) or bladder stones. He will need to see a vet for this problem. If he appears otherwise healthy and happy, eats and drinks plenty, you can wait until tomorrow morning. If he appears lethargic, ill or distressed, he is straining to go but can't, he yeowls when peeing, or if the urine appears very bloody, then he should be seen by a vet ASAP. Feed him wet/canned food, add water to it, and make sure he drinks a lot of water to help flush the bladder. I hope this helps!

Poor Bear! He definitely needs to see a veterinarian right away as this can be a sign of serious bladder issues like cystitis, lower urinary tract disease, bladder stones, or urinary blockage. A urinary blockage is a life threatening emergency so Bear needs to see a veterinarian immediately for treatment. A veterinarian can examine Bear to see if he has a blockage and if necessary pass a urinary catheter and give Bear fluids. From what I can see in the photo, it appears to be a scratch under the eye and by the mouth. If he was recently put outside, he may have injured himself. They appear to be only minor scratches, but you should make sure they don't appear to be getting worse or developing any swelling or drainage, as these are signs of infection. As for taking longer to urinate, this is more concerning to me. One potential cause is a condition called FLUTD (or feline lower urinary tract disease). For reasons that we do not fully understand, cats can get inflammation in the urinary tract that can lead to swelling and even complete blockage. This is an emergency, because the bladder can rupture. Often these cats are placed on special diets to help control the symptoms.
