My cat had ringworm. How can they get it again in an enclosed yard?

Hello. Our cats were recently diagnosed with roundworm by using their fur in a solution that was cultured over 2 weeks. The cats go out front where they might be exposed to the roundworm. However, they also go out in our backyard that is enclosed where other animals do not come in. The vet is saying they can never go out again and that mean outback in the enclosed space. How would there be a possibility of them getting roundworm again outback? Did they contaminate the space with their own fur, t

I would like to clarify your question. Do you mean ringworm or roundworm? Ringworm is diagnosed with a hair sample and this is what I think you mean. Ringworm is a fungal infection that is spread by loose hair. Roundworm is an intestinal worm that is spread in the stool. Both of these can be spread to humans. If you do mean ringworm, environmental cleanup is possible. You will need to vacuum up all the hair and use a cleaning solution labeled to kill ringworm. You will need to wipe down everything. Ringworm is spread on loose hairs that floats in the air. This means the walls and ceiling as well. You should give the area several cleanings before letting the cats in the enclosure. The cats should not go in the enclosure until they are confirmed negative for ringworm. I hope this helps and best of luck.

People can be allergic to cats as well. If Curly is being treated for ring worm then you can get it. If her hair is growing back that doesn't mean she is cured. Hello. Are you treating Minocha for ringworm? Ringworm is a fungus that can spread on any loose hairs, but it is not an easy infection to catch from a cat unless you have a compromised immune system. I would definitely keep her out of bedrooms & not let her sleep with anyone. Continue to treat any spots with your antifungal medicine prescribed by your vet. My cat's ringworm was diagnosed by stool test. Is dewormer correct?

Are you sure you mean ringworm and not hookworm, roundworm, or whipworm? Ringworm isn't diagnosed with a fecal sample, it is diagnosed with a fungal culture. Ringworm is a fungal infection, it does not show up in the feces. You are correct that pyrantal pamoate is used for intestinal worms. It's fine to give them the deworming treatment as it will help keep them from getting worms, but if you think they have ringworm, that requires a different medication. Best of luck.

My kitten has ringworm. Could my older cat be a carrier? How to tell?

I would guess that it's a little more likely that the kitten acquired ringworm at the shelter. Some cats can be asymptomatic carriers, and can be diagnosed by getting a sample for fungal culture using a brush technique - you can make an appointment with your veterinarian. If your cat tests positive she should be treated, and some veterinarians choose to treat all cats in the home regardless of testing because of the difficulty in controlling ringworm in the environment.

My kitten has ringworm. Should I tie him up? Are vet injections safe?

Poor kitty. I would not recommend tying a rope to your kitten. Ringworm is typically only contagious in immune compromised people or the really young (children) or really old (senior). If you still have concerns about transmission then wear gloves when handling kitty and perhaps place kitty in a spare room until the skin lesions resolve. As far as the injection goes, I can't comment on whether it is ok to give again or not, because I don't know what the injection was. I honestly have only prescribed oral (by mouth) anti-fungal medication and topicals to treat ringworm. Please repost with the name of the injection that your kitty received and we can give you more information on whether it is safe or not. You may find the name of the medication on your invoice.
