My cat has Revolution. What immediate tick protection can I use?

Revolution does not protect against fleas, so I'd recommend using a medication such as Nexgard which protects against fleas and ticks (including American dog ticks). It's a monthly oral flea treatment program. That way, you don't need to combine two medications to give Candy protection against fleas and ticks. Typically, I do not recommend using two different flea treatment programs togethers. The American dog tick can spread diseases such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Tularemia. Harriett is a cutie! Yes you can use frontline as well but I would recommend to separate the two medicines by two weeks. For instance you apply revolution on the 1st then frontline on the 15th then revolution on the 1st again and so on. I hope this helps!

I would not recommend using revolution for 3 more weeks. You can administer an oral capstan. This will kill all live fleas for 24 hours. Also, make sure you are treating the environment to help decrease and manage the life cycle

Great question! According to the package insert for Advantage 2, you can safely reapply once every two weeks, so it would be fine to give them the Revolution now. You can also give them Capstar. It's a one time pill that starts killing fleas in 30 minutes and is safe to give with the Revolution. Don't forget you will need to disinfect the environment as well. Wash their bedding in hot soapy water, and vacuum the furniture and carpet surfaces. You can use a spray to kill fleas in the house, such as Indorex, or a flea bomb would work well to kill the fleas in the home. I hope this helps!

The most comprehensive protection you can get that is also the easiest to apply and has very, very few side effects would be Revolution. I highly recommend this. I will provide broad spectrum coverage for fleas, roundworms, hookworms, ear mites, scabies, etc. This will give you peace of mind. Hi and thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Sorry to hear that Negrito is having a flea problem. Since Frontline Plus and Revolution are 2 totally different products, you can apply the Revolution now and not wait until the full month is done. You shouldn't see any problems and if you do, I would advise calling your vet. Very occasionally cats and dogs will have problems with one topical product and not another. Just make sure that you apply it correctly right up over the neck where Negrito can't lick it off as soon as it is applied. Good luck and I hope Revolution works well for him. I do believe we are starting to see some problems with Frontline as I have witnessed the same problem last summer when using Frontline.

If you have a flea infestation in your house or yard it will be harder for the Revolution to be fully effective. Make sure you vacuum regularly, and treat the other pets in the household as well as the yard if that is practical. I use a flea comb dipped in soapy water to catch the fleas on Dexter. You’ll find that the fleas are slower than normal because they are dying. If you are consistent with your flea control in the house, other pets, and yard and use Revolution monthly as directed the fleas should all be gone in several weeks.
