Why is my pet cat restless and not sleeping after vaccinations?

Hi. Poor Sunny. I know it may seem abnormal, but it is common and normal to have a patient be quiet, lethargic, hide, skip a meal, and ecen be sore and whiny after a vaccine. Some vaccines affect patients more then others. I would not worry unless Sunny starts vlmiting, having excessive lethargy, hives, swelling, or trouble breathing. I would monitor and call your veterinarian if any further signs occur.

I'm so sorry that Noushmc isn't feeling well. Pain at the injection site and mild lethargy are very common with vaccinations and considered normal since the vaccination is stimulating the immune system. It usually lasts 1-2 days and will resolve on its own. If Nouschmc is not eating, is vomiting or it lasts more than 2 days, I would contact your veterinarian. Good luck! This sounds like a side effect of the vaccine, it's not super common but i'v seen a few cases already and this usually resolves within 48-72 hours. your vet could give her pain killers for a couple days if her condition seems to be really bad.

Poor Casper. Some cats can develop fever or soreness after vaccination. If he is very sore, not eating and sleeping excessively it's worth considering a visit to the emergency vet for Casper to be evaluated and medicated to treat a possible vaccine reaction. If he is sleeping more but still getting up to eat and drink and use the litter box it may be a milder reaction that will subside with time. in either case be sure to let his regular vet know so that he can possibly be pre-treated with medication before vaccines from now on. Hope he feels better soon. Do Not Give any OTC pain or fever meds to Casper. Cats cannot metabolize many human medications and they can be fatal.

It sounds like a type of vaccination reaction. This could last 24-48 hours. As long as he is eating just monitor him and make sure he doesn't get worse. In the future it is recommended he not receive all of those vaccines and deworming at once.

It is possible that Smokey is experiencing a vaccine reaction they can have a fever and be lethargic for 24 hours after the injections. If it persist longer than that I would return to the vet for medication. Be sure to notify your vet of this reaction so they can premed or split up the injections in the future
