My cat is quiet, lost his meow, and has eye gunk. What's wrong?

Caboose is a cutie! An ear infection would not likely make him lose his meow but a severe respiratory tract infection could have damaged the vocal chords. Some cats however have very soft or absent meows and it’s not pathologic. It’s likely impossible to know which one is that play here. Sometimes all you notice is a hoarse meow or a change in the sound of the meow and nothing else (like sneezing, ocular discharge, etc). Poor Nixon. He could have develop a mild laryngitis from the changing of seasons, talking too much, an upper respiratory infection, and other causes. You could try Benadryl twice a day to see if that helps. See link below. If he isn't improving or starts to get worse (lethargy, not eating, etc), I would have your vet take a look. If your cat is otherwise happy, healthy, and eating, drinking, and acting normally, I would not be too concerned.
