My outdoor cat has a popped abscess and eye crusties. Vet needed?

This is an abscess and the white substance is puss. These are often caused by something under the skin that gets infected. It could be a thorn or from a bite. It's best if a vet examines this and explores the wound, because if the cause of the infection is not removed, then the infection will never clear. Sometimes these infections have potential to cause infections elsewhere, or can get worse, so a vet may need to prescribe medication to prevent this. For now, keep the area clean by flushing with water twice a day. I hope that helps and Mittens gets better soon.

It appears that your kitty has a so-called cat bite abscess. You should take her temperature and if she has a temperature of over 103F she will need to be seen by your vet and the abscess needs to be drained properly. She will also need antibiotics, If she does not have a fever, the abscess is draining nicely (you can put gentle pressure on it and remove the discharge with a tissue) and does not refill, then it might heal by itself. However since this abscess is close to the eye I strongly recommend you taking Calypso to your vet tomorrow for an exam and treatment.

Yes, I do think that Bramble should see a veterinarian as he will likely require local therapy if it is an abscess with drainage and cleaning as well as oral antibiotics. Sounds like a bite wound or a puncture wound from something Skye could have snagged herself on while out and about. The wound needs to be explored, flushed, and possibly drained. Skye will very likely require some antibiotics in order to get better, as well as anti-inflammatory medication to control pain and/or fever if she has one. I would get her into the veterinarian in the morning at the very latest so that treatment can be instituted. The longer you wait, the worse the infection can become. Hope this makes sense.

If this is truly an abscess, it may require a course of antibiotics to fully clear - otherwise it will likely continue to wax and wane as you've observed, and could become even worse if the infection is allowed to remain. It's also possible that Misha's issue is not a straightforward abscess - she could have another issue such as a cyst or tumor/mass, or even a foreign body (such as a thorn) that could be leading to a secondary infection. Your vet will be able to help determine what specifically is going on with Misha, and from your description I suspect your vet will likely put her on a course of antibiotics to help her heal. Ideally, Horus should be examined by your veterinarian. Vetericyn, while a good product for minor wounds, may not be enough for a serious injury. He may need systemic antibiotics which your vet can administer or dispense after an exam. Pain management should also be discussed.

He needs to go to the vet. The area is very inflamed and infected and will need antibiotics to be fixed. You can clean the area with mild soap and water to start. make sure to clean the food and water bowl daily and change to a glass or stainless steel one. This can often be an allergic reaction from rubbing against things such as the bowls.
