My cat is in pain and restless after neutering yesterday. What to do?

My cat is in a lot of pain what do I need to do he had a neuturing done yesterday and he hasn't slept none all night will not stop moving and walking the floor and meowing loud wanting out. He is in alot of pain

Unfortunately, there is very little you can do in terms of pain management for a cat at home, as far over the counter medications. They are all dangerous and ineffective. A cat neuter is a typically very simple, quick, and free of complications. So, if he is experiencing this type of reaction now post-operatively, I would be concerned and get him back to whoever performed the procedure. If you take him to an emergency clinic now, they'll be able to do the same and get him medications that will help calm him down, and hopefully make him feel better. The one thing you can try to do if he'll allow it is, if the area where he was operated looks swollen, you can try icing it. Hope this makes sense.

I personally have not run across a cat that has associated hands with a traumatic event, and do not believe it is common at all. Post-neuter care for my kitten: routine, licking, and pain meds?

Hello. Most cats do very well after surgery, so as long as Haiku does not get too active tearing through the house, he can pretty much do his usual routine. There are no special requirements to aid in his healing other than to check the area for anything that looks unusual. He can clean the surgical area & will not harm anything. I would continue his pain medications at least for a day or so to make sure he has a normal recovery. If anything does concern you, contact your veterinarian immediately. My cat is going crazy with his cone after neuter surgery. What to do?

Most cats do hate wearing the cone at home. It is tough to watch them act in this manner. However, in order to help prevent him from both injuring himself trying to get it off and also keeping him from getting to his incision, it may be best to keep him in a small room like the bathroom for tonight, then call your vet on tomorrow and ask for a sedative to give him at home while he still recovers from surgery. Cat licking red neuter area, seems in pain. Should I call the vet?

It is very hard to give much advice without seeing a photo. However, based on what you said though, I would suggest you take Noodle back for a recheck exam. He may have gotten razor burn from the surgical shaving and that may be making him uncomfortable. There is nothing you can give him over the counter. Cats are EXTREMELY sensitive to over the counter medications and you can do some serious damage to them by giving something. My cat just got neutered. What to expect with anesthesia, cone, pain?

Depends on the anesthetic used, it can take up to 72 hours for a pet to completely recover. Most pets will recover within 24 hours. The e-collar (cone) is necessary to prevent licking of the incision. Don't worry though, Chandler will acclimate. You may be able to remove it for short periods to allow him to eat or drink, but you must watch him carefully to prevent licking. The injection should cover the worst of the post operative discomfort. If not, you can request more from your veterinarian. Monitor for lethargy, decreased appetite, meowing excessively, drooling or panting. These may indicate discomfort.

My cat is hunched and not lying down after neuter. Is he in pain?

Papoose will be in pain from the surgery, but hopefully the pain medication the vet gave him is helping. I'm not surprised he's not laying on his stomach, it will be tender from the surgery. Keep an eye on him tonight, and if he is still this way in the morning, give his vet a call.
