My pet keeps opening skin wounds. Are they infected or serious?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years old | 10 lbs

Do these wounds look infected? He keeps opening them up and making them bleed. Any suggestions? How serious is this?

They look very inflamed and uncomfortable but I do not see any pus or indication of infection on the photos. I would recommend a full physical by your vet to try and determine the underlying trigger - allergies to fleas, food or mites are all possible and treatment is different for each type.
