My cat has fleas, an open wound, and hair loss. Is it infected?

This is an open and infected skin wound. It may be the result of trauma (cat fight) or self inflicted from scratching ( fleas or ear mites). A hands on exam by a veterinarian can help you to determine the cause and also prescribe an antibiotic and assess the wound. That wound on his foot looks swollen which is concerning for a deeper infection or a wound to the bone structures in the leg. I recommend to get this examined since a physical exam is the first step in determining the extent of the injury. As for the fleas, top products for cats are topicals such as Revolution and Cheristan. There is also an oral product called Comfortis that both dogs and cats can take. You will need to switch all the pets over to a good flea product. Make sure to discuss these products with your veterinarian first. These products are generally safe for all pets but there are some conditions which are contraindicated for the oral products. Cleaning up and treating the house and yard will also help but it will not clear all the fleas. The main control is making sure the pets are on good products. This is what will ultimately stop the infestation. Also remember every female fleas lays about 50 eggs a day and it could take up to 6 months before the eggs hatch. If they are not very deep and only small wounds, I would recommend to clean them with diluted hibiscrub twice daily until completely healed. Flea allergy must be treated and fleas as well. A combination of steroids and flea treatment is usually needed. A vet care is not needed if in 3-4 days the wounds are healing. If not, antibiotics may be needed.

It sounds like Boots has an abscess from the bite wound. He needs to be examined by a vet for treatment. The abscess may need to be cleaned and flushed and then your vet can prescribe an antibiotic to treat the infection.

That appears to be infected. I recommend to have Noelle examined by the veterinarian. Infections can spread to the blood stream and it sounds like she is in pain as well. she will likely need the hair clipped away, the area cleaned, an antibiotic, a pain medication and an elizabethan collar to protect the area from further wounds. Try to have her examined within the next 24 hours. I hope she starts feeling better quickly!

Poor kitty. This looks like a really bad skin infection and could be due to an underlying flea allergy. Luckily veterinary hospitals are considered an essential business, so most are open even with the lockdown keeping other things closed. Your cat needs to see a vet to get this taken care of and also figure out what is causing him to limp? He will need at the very least antibiotics to help clear up this skin infection.
