Can I give my cat leftover Onsior for a swollen eye from herpes?

It is very likely that he feels the weather in his bones and cats do suffer from arthritis. If the Onsior was prescribed for him by your vet, you can give it to him. If not, I would definitely wait until tomorrow and call your vet and ask whether you can give it to him. We are not allowed by law to authorize or prescribe medication.

I'm sorry to hear that Elijah is limping and painful! Unfortunately, I don't think it's advisable to give him the Onsior that you have on hand without having first checked his bloodwork to assess his kidney values. Cats are very sensitive to pain medications, particularly NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like Onsior, so they should only be given when specifically prescribed for the incident at hand. Aspirin (like Bufferin) is highly toxic to cats and should not be given under any circumstances. Since he seems so uncomfortable, it would be ideal to take him to an ER this weekend for more urgent evaluation. The ER vet will be able to prescribe pain medication for him. Clopidogrel and Onsior are safe to give at the same time, as long as they are medications that are both prescribed by your veterinarian to be used by Jack. Onsior is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication that should not be used if cats have underlying liver or kidney disease, as Onsior can make these diseases worse. If the Onsior has been prescribed by your veterinarian for Jack (and not a different cat in the house) it is OK to give him this along with the Clopidogrel he usually receives. If the Onsior has been prescribed for a different cat in the household, I would not give this to Jack without Jack first being evaluated by your veterinarian. I hope this is helpful!

Fortunately Onsior is one of the safest pain killers on the market and a one time double dosage is not likely to affect him. i would still monitor him for vomiting, lack of appetite and bloody stools, i would also recommend skipping the next dose.

Onsior is best given as a whole tablet. Crushing it is not ideal. It will not harm her or cause side effects, it just may not be as efficacious. Have you tried giving the tablet in a Pill Pocket? Typically they will eat the tablet whole that way. ( ) Give her a couple with nothing inside. Make sure she likes and eat is and then hide the tablet in one. I would try that first.

It's hard to tell from your description what the red area could be. If it is within her eyelids it may be her inner 3rd eyelid. It could also be an abscess under the skin. As I can't be certain what structure it is, I don't recommend applying any medicine to it unless your vet instructs you to after an exam. If the swelling is still present tomorrow, take her in for an exam.

This is probably not related to the Onsior but related to whatever he had going on. This sounds like some sort of vestibular problem or a neurologic problem. There are many causes of this so it's important to have your vet follow up with Chewy and re-evaluate her. This would be a very rare and unexpected side effect from Onsior.
