My cat got onion/garlic dip on fur. Is it dangerous if he licks it?

Hello, I'm sorry to hear that Luna got into the pan with onions. Generally, she would need to eat a few mouthfuls of pure onion to get a toxic amount. A few licks of oil in a pan with onion in it wouldn't cause problems, except maybe some GI distress from excess fat. If she did ingest a toxic amount of onions, it would cause anemia which results in weakness and lethargy. If you are concerned about the amount she ingested, call her veterinarian and schedule an appointment for a physical exam and bloodwork. I hope this helps. Hi, if he has eaten just the potatoes there should not be any need to be concerned. The amount of onion that can cause toxicity symptoms needs to be over 5 g/kg of weight, so I think you can be reassured that Percy will be fine. From now onwards keep him away from anything containing onions though as even a small amount eaten on repetitive occasions can cause signs of toxicity. Take care and give Percy a cuddle from me !

I would not be concerned if those were the only ingredients, Otis should be fine. He may get a slight amount of gastrointestinal upset. You may notice some mild vomiting or diarrhea. I doubt there would be enough garlic to cause a problem. Cats can develop anemia or low red blood cells secondary to ingesting onions or garlic but it would require more than a little residue. Axel should be fine.

The very small amount of onion powder in this shouldn't cause your cat any problems. He may get some stomach upset due to getting a decent amount of unfamiliar food, but no more than that. If he should become ill, refuse to eat, etc, get him in to see your vet right away.

This should be just fine. I expect that he may have a little intestinal upset from the grease in the chip, but he won't have gotten enough salt or onion to do him any harm.Keep an eye on him and if he does start feeling sick, get him in to see the vet right away. I've seen lots of cats steal chips and do just fine. Just try to keep them out of his reach.
