My recently neutered cat hasn't pooped since coming home. Normal?

This can happen. Between being fasted prior to surgery and pain medications, his GI system may be empty yet or slow. Continue to feed him as you normally and he will eventually defecate. If he doesn't within 48 hours of eating normal meals, have him rechecked by your veterinarian.

It would be highly unusual for a kitten to have urinary complications after neutering. You are a good pet parent for monitoring him, but as long as he is interacting with you, interested in food, and is doing normal cat behaviors such as grooming I wouldn’t worry yet. If he’s repeatedly getting into and out of the litter box without producing anything, if he starts vocalizing in the box, or if there is bloody discharge from the surgical area take him right in.

Simba may be going in the other cat's litter tray, and I would try to see if you can follow him around to see if you can catch him pooping in the other tray. Kittens do not necessarily poop right after a meal, and it could be he is pooping at night in the other tray while you are sleeping. Given that he is acting normal, I wouldn't be to concerned. If he wasn't pooping at all, you would see other signs lack of appetite, potentially vomiting, straining to poop, and lethargy. Should you see any of those signs, then I would be concerned and have him seen by a vet. Best of luck.

It depends on when your guy had surgery and if you mean urine/feces or both. If recent it could be anesthesia related as this can slow the gi tract down and/or he may be a little tired from the procedure/sedation. It could also be pain related. Do you notice anything abnormal about the neuter site (redness, swelling, discharge)? If he is eating and drinking normally then he will re establish normality soon. If he is not feeling well or you are worried about the surgery site it would be best to have him checked by your vet. Thank you for submitting your question regarding Tom. I recommend contacting his veterinarian today with your concerns. Most cats are back to normal within 12-24 hours after surgery. If he is not eating, he could be painful. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medications though as these can be toxic to cats. The sunken abdomen is not an expected side effect. It may not be a problem, but is worth discussing with his veterinarian. I hope this information helps!

Noodle might be sick. By this point, he should be completely recovered from the neuter. I recommend to ave him examined today if possible. He could have a fever, infection or a reaction to the anesthesia. Best to play it safe. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

His castration wound looks good, I see no evidence of infection and he is apparently not licking it either. He should indeed be back to his normal self after three days. You may want to take his temperature with a digital rectal thermometer to check whether he has a fever. should he have a fever ( 103+F) he will need to go back to the vet for a recheck. However the whole excitement from being at the vet's, the anesthesia, the drive in the car may just have caught up with him today. If he is not eating, drinking or does not want to play on Monday, I would also take him back for a recheck.
