Why is my cat not eating, drinking, sneezing, and lethargic?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

My cat isnt eating or drinking and he's sneezing also is lethargic.

If smudge is not eating or drinking I strongly recommend a visit to the veterinarian. He may have an upper respiratory infection or virus, which can cause fever, lethargy and decrease in eating. Depending on what the veterinarian fines smudge may need antibiotics or antiviral medication or other treatment to get him eating and drinking again. Good luck and I hope he's feeling better soon.

Hi there,

It sounds like Bill needs veterinary care as soon as possible. With the symptoms you're describing, Bill could have a severe respiratory infection, or something else causing him no to have an appetite.

He needs to be examined to find out what's causing him to feel so sick, and then treatment can be started to help him feel better.

It sounds like poor Lieutenant may have a respiratory infection. It's quite concerning that his appetite has decreased and he's not drinking water. Try gently warming really smelly wet food like sardine or fish based. First thing in the morning, have him seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

I am very sorry to hear that Smokey isn't feeling himself. With a history of not eating over the last few days as well as not drinking and lethargy I would advise taking Smokey to the vet as soon as you can. If Smokey is not passing urine or feces, because depressed or dull, vomits or has dirrhoea or collapses take him the the vet immediately as this could be the sign of a life threatening emergency such as an intestinal or urinary blockage. In the meantime try boiled boneless chicken breast to tempt Smokey into eating. You can also offer the broth from cooking the chicken to try and rehydrate him. I am so sorry this is happening to Smokey and I hope he feels better soon.

I am a little uncertain on what is meant by loose motion, but if Chikoo is experiencing upper respiratory signs such as discharge from the nose or sneezing as your describe, and that is associated with decrease in appetite and decreased water consumption, he may need to visit his veterinarian as soon as possible. It sounds like an upper respiratory infection. They are common in cats and can be incredibly contagious to other cats. Make sure to wash your hands and change your clothes after dealing with Tom. Many of these infection are viral and simply have to run their course. Occasionally antibiotics are used to treat secondary bacterial infections. Cats don't like to eat if they can't smell, so if you can give him smellier foods, like tuna or some varieties of wet food, he may eat a little.

Hello. You are describing Heidi with an upper respiratory infection. Most of these are viruses & generally run their course in 10-14 days. As long as Heidi is eating & drinking, she may not need to be on any medications. If you have never had her tested for feline leukemia & feline immunodeficiency virus ( & never vaccinated ), this might be something to request that your vet do this. This might change how she is or is not treated now & in the future. Just like with us, keeping her hydrated & eating are the best ways to deal with these infections. Yes, I would suggest that you have him checked over so you could have some medications for his eyes which otherways might not get better. It could be just a viral infection, cat flu. It could be secondary to the vaccination , a bit like with the human flu vaccination but It depends on which vaccination he had. Hope Salam gets better soon !
