My cat isn't eating, drinking, and has unusual litter box habits. Vet?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is somewhat expected to some extent though it is important to make sure she is drinking water so she does not get dehydrated. I would encourage her to drink and you may get more than 1 litter box to encourage her to use it. If she does not improve within 2-3 days, have her evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment in case there is something else going on. Best of luck!

This is in fact a concerning sign in cats as inappetence can be observed with conditions such as pancreatitis, kidney disease (most likely chronic in nature), dietary indiscretion and diabetes, just to mention a few possibilities. Cats can develop serious illness when they stop eating. This is known as hepatic lipidosis which is directly related to anorexia. I recommend that if Nutmeg is not eating by tomorrow morning, to have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. General labwork and thoracic/abdominal imaging may be recommended for work-up. Treatment would be based on findings. Good luck! Hoping for a speedy recovery!

Not going to the bathroom, lack of appetite and laying in one spot can be a sign of a blockage in the urethra or intestines. Without knowing more, I think it's best if you do take her for an evaluation by a vet ASAP, because this could be a serious problem. They will narrow-down the problem and at-least give treatment to make her feel better. Based on what you are describing, I would recommend she be taken back in to be re-evaluated and have further diagnostics or treatment done. Cats can only go so long without eating before developing liver issues, so we are always concerned when cats aren't eating. I would recommend Socks be re-evaluated by her veterinarian, have any further necessary testing done (xrays, bloodwork, ultrasound) to determine what the underlying cause for her issue is, and start any treatment that may be needed to help her feeling back on track. I'm sorry to hear that Lily has been feeling so poorly today. As Dr. Melanie mentioned, lethargy and a loss of appetite can be due to many underlying health conditions. Since she seems to prefer laying down, it's also possible that she's experiencing some degree of pain or discomfort. Some of these possible conditions include pancreatitis, infectious diseases (FIV, feline leukemia, FIP, etc.), constipation, kidney disease, liver disease, toxin exposure (did she eat a plant, medication or something else she shouldn't have?), or many other conditions. The fact that she hasn't been using the litter box normally might be a sign that she is dehydrated, even though she's drinking water when it's placed in front of her. At this point, it would be best to take Lily to her vet fairly urgently for evaluation. Your vet will need to examine her and will likely recommend some diagnostic testing, which may include blood work, an ultrasound or x-rays, to get to the bottom of this issue. I would recommend that you have him examined by a veterinarian to help better determine what the problem may be. I would also consider blood testing to rule out an infectious cause or systemic disease cause such as kidney or liver disease. Olaf may need fluid therapy at the veterinarian, which consists of injecting a fluid solution under the skin that has electrolytes to help stabilize hydration and any electrolyte imbalances that may have occurred from not eating or drinking much.
