My cat is sick, not eating, and not improving. When to see vet again?

Loss of appetite and inappetence can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. I recommend that you have Ebony reevaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as she has not improved and and is not drinking well which concerns me that she will get dehydrated. Based on your description, I am quite concerned she may be dehydrated and may have some systemic disease or infection going on. If Boxer is not improving and is not eating or drinking, I would recommend taking him back to the veterinarian for a recheck and having anti-nausea medications and fluids given to see if this helps further. If he continues to not eat, he may need a feeding tube if his liver becomes affected. I hope this helps! I would avoid giving Calpol as cats are very sensitive to this drug and can develop toxicity quite easily. There are safer fever reducers such as Meloxicam that you can have your veterinarian prescribe for you. I hope this helps! I would also recommend an antibiotic such as Convenia in case there is a secondary bacterial infection Boxer is fighting.

I recommend taking her back to the vet for diagnostics- blood work and radiographs- and more aggressive treatment. It sounds like testing hasn’t been done yet and the fluids and anti nausea meds haven’t helped. Cats cannot go very many days without eating and forcing them to eat can make things worse. I am more concerned about the fact that she is not eating well and that needs to be further addressed as it is unlikely to be due to a urinary tract infection. I recommend that you have Luchadora reevaluated by your veterinarian on Saturday for further assessment and treatment. Keep in mind that if she is not feeling well, they may not proceed with vaccines that day. You may take in a urine sample that day. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Toots! I would bring a stool sample and have Toots examined by your Vet. I would recommend full blood work including Feline Leukemia and FIV. If that is normal then I would consider maldigeetion and malabsorption blood work (tests B12, folate and 2 pancreatic enzymes and consider an ultrasound of his belly to rule in or out underlying intestinal disease like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or small cell lymphoma. Most IBD cats are treated with a prescription diet and anti-inflammatories. Since he is getting worse I recommend starting a work up. I wish you and Toots the best!

There are a lot of things there could be going on with Copper, but without full testing it is hard to know which problem it is. I would say if your treatment hasn't helped in 24-48 hours after starting, or things are getting worse, there is a concern it won't help. If you are unable to help him more and hes getting worse, I would consider euthanasia so he doesn't suffer. Good luck to you and Copper!
