Why won't my cat eat 2 days after vomiting plastic & vet care?

Methigel may cause some stomach upset which could affect appetite. You can offer a bland diet or warm up Oliver's regular food to stimulate his appetite. A teaspoon of plain baby food can also be mixed in to get him eating again. If he doesn't begin eating again, have him rechecked by your veterinarian. A cat that does not eat for 2+ days is at risk of serious liver related complications.

If he was recently at the vet for vomiting, and now is not eating or drinking anything, he should be seen again as this would make me concerned about the possibility of a foreign body, or pancreatitis, which would require additional therapy. If your vet didn't do x-rays or bloodwork at the previous appointment it's time to make sure there's nothing more serious going on. However, since your vet just saw Iron I would start by giving them a call with an update, in case they have other input based on their exam findings. Hope this helps and he feels better soon!

Hello, I recommend having multiple types of smelly, soft food available to encourage Olly's appetite. Canned tuna may be helpful as well. If you are unable to encourage eating at home, he will need to be seen by a veterinarian. A dropper holds such a small amount of fluid that it is likely not making a difference. Vomiting repeatedly in a cat can be a sign of gastritis (he ate something that upset his stomach), a blockage in the GI tract, a toxin, or other diseases of the body including kidneys/liver/diabetes, etc. If Oliver is playing, acting normally and is eating and drinking, I would recommend just feeding him boiled/boneless/skinless chicken breasts and boiled rice in small frequent meals for a few days. If he is eating/pooping normally and the vomiting resolves, it was likely a mild gastritis. If Oliver is weak/tired, not eating, or the vomiting gets worse at all, he needs to go to a vet right away for x-rays to make sure he doesn't have a blockage or a severe gastritis/pancreatitis. If there is a blockage he will die without surgery, so if the vomiting continues get him to a vet right away. Best of luck with Oliver.

Hello, thank you for your question about Tony. Flagyl (metronidazole) is an anti-diarrheal medication that also has antibiotic/antiparasitic properties. The side effects that you found such as decreased appetite and diarrhea are usually associated with these properties. In general these side effects are less likely and the benefit of giving the Flagyl. I would recommend continuing the Flagyl as directed. Additionally you could offer Tony a bland more palatable diet. Some options include a canned food diet that is designed for GI health. You could also try home cooking food such as boiled chicken/hamburger. If Tony's inappetance continues I would recommend having him rechecked by your veterinarian for further evaluation and diagnostic workup. Hope this helps, good luck!

It sounds as Oliver is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

Hello, sorry to hear about Lucky. This may or may not be related to his giardia treatment at all. You can try to offer different forms of food, including plain white rice, skinless and boneless boiled chicken, and low fat cottage cheese. If he is not eating like his normal self in 2-3 days, is acting lethargic, has vomiting, or recurrent diarrhea then Lucky is gonna need to be re-evaluated by his veterinarian. Re-infection with giardia is always a possibility, but there are also other causes for a decreased appetite such as dietary indiscretion, ingestion of foreign material, liver or kidney disease.
