Cat won't drink water from bowl after vomiting. Is she dehydrated?

I'd feed Cupquake canned food, or add some low sodium gently warmed chicken broth to her dry food. I'd also recommend getting her a pet water fountain. Congratulations on your new addition! If you haven't previously fed 100% canned food before, you may not be used to how infrequently cats will drink water. My cats are also on a 100% canned food diet, and I rarely see them drink water (maybe once a week). That is because they get almost all the moisture they need from the canned food. It is important to have fresh water available to her at all times, but I would not be worried about not seeing a cat on 100% canned food not drink. If you're concerned, you might consider adding some water to her caned food or adding a running fountain since most cats prefer that to drink from. If Bronte seems stressed otherwise, you could try a couple of things. One option for decreasing stress is to add a Feliway Diffuser ( https://www.feliway.com ) to your house. This is a calming pheromone that will work for a month. I have also had luck with Rescue Remedy ( http://www.bachflower.com/rescue-remedy-pet/ ) which can be added to the food. You can try some other type of canned food. Sometimes their tastes change and they decided they don't like what they had before. Cats can be picky. The other way to increase water consumption is to get a drinking fountain. Many cats like to drink from running water and will actually drink more if running water is constantly available. I would suggest you try this. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I’m sorry to hear Cuppy isn’t feeling well. If she isn’t eating, I recommend taking her to a vet to find out why. Cats cannot go more than a few days without eating. They will start by doing a physical exam and will likely recommend lab work to see how her organs are functioning and the status of her red and white blood cells. They may also run a thyroid test to determine if it’s over-active. The vet may need to take radiographs of her abdomen to rule out a foreign object or other abnormalities. Hello, thank er you for using PetCoach. I would not necessarily be "concerned" but it would be good for him to drink more water. Two good ways to get more water into a cat are: 1. Feed canned food and 2. Get a water fountain for him. Cats tend to drink more from a source of running water. If he eats canned food it obviously has a higher water content than dry food. I suggest you do those two things and see how things go from there. Poor Vriska! Did they have her on fluids at the vet? If not she may end up needing them unfortunately. Usually food poisoning will settle with time, but it can make them very dull a nd dehydrated. Hopefully she will not vomit now as she was seen last night. You can try and keep her hydrated at home to support her whilst she heals. However if she gets dehydrated she will likely need that drip. You can slowly syringe water into to her, it would be best with electrolyte solution added such as royal canin rehydration support. To be honest I wouldnt feed her at the moment as it will likely make her worse. Give her a rest day off food then feed feed her plain chicken and rice. If she is going downhill you will have to take her back in unfortunately.
