Is this spot on my cat's neck ringworm? Should I be concerned?

If you are posting photos they are not coming through. There must be a glitch in the system. I apologize for that but unfortunately I cannot comment much without a photo. All I can say is that many skin diseases look the same. The only way you are going to get a diagnosis is by taking her to the vet and having an exam and some testing done. Even if I saw the photo I would just be guessing. In a younger dog the most common things to cause a hairless spot are ringworm and mange but there are other possibilities. Sorry, that is the best I can tell you right now. Maybe try posting again tomorrow and hopefully the photos will be showing up.

That could be a ringworm patch on Tinsel. Unfortunately without seeing her in person, I can't say for certain. Don't touch it, as ringworm is highly contagious to humans as well. Have her seen by a vet on Monday who can confirm if she has ringworm and can prescribe an oral anti-fungal medication. If she does has ringworm, you will have to disinfect your home because the spores can live in it up to 18 months. I will put a link below on how to do this. I am so sorry but the picture is too out of focus to see exactly what it is. It can be a bacterial infection but it absolutely can be ringworm. It would be much easier for us to give you advice if we could see the lesion. Can you post again with some photos? There are many different skin issues that can look similar so it's hard to say what could be causing the problem for sure. That is why the testing is recommended. A positive result under the black light is a good indicator that it is ringworm.

Thank you for including pictures of Bella's ear! It is certainly possible that it is ringworm, but she could also have an infection or an injury causing this redness. For now, I would leave it be and not touch it, and have her seen by a vet on Monday for it. The vet can use a Wood's lamp and do a fungal culture to diagnose if it is ringworm, and can prescribe treatment for it. I would keep Bella isolated from other animals in your home for now just in case she does have ringworm. Ringworm is highly contagious to other animals and humans, and I would wash your hands thoroughly after each time you touch her. The concern is that the Microsporum canis (fungal organism causing ringworm) is spread diffusely throughout a cat's entire hair coat, so you need to make sure to practice good hygiene to try to keep from getting it yourself. Should Bella have ringworm, you will need to disinfect the home as spores can live up to 10 months in the environment. I will put a link below on how to do that. Hello, sorry to hear about your cat. Those do not definitely look like your typical ringworm lesions. They look like your cat has been scratching at them often and likely developed a hot-spot from this. It can be associated with allergies or fleas and will require some medications to control the itchiness and local infection. Finally, your veterinarian may opt to obtain a hair culture to completely rule out the possibility of ringworm. Hope this helps and best of luck.
