My cat meows for play constantly and won't play with toys alone?

Leo is still a kitten and this high energy level is normal. Neutering does have some calming effect but it does not completely alter their personality or change them. It certainly may help! Just like people, some cats are more social than others. If you decide to get her a playmate, try to find a cat with a similiar, playful temperament and about her same age (that way the energy level is matched). Ideally get a cat who is coming from a living arrangement with other cats so that it is already use to living with other felines. Expect that there may be some hissing or unease for the first couple weeks. It’s very normal for this behavior in the beginning and does not mean they won’t like each other. You should try giving Sunny environmental enrichment. Set aside 30 minutes to play with him every single day. Provide climbing opportunities such as shelving units and a tall cat tree. You can also find many interactive toys that can help. Lastly, you may try feeding him out of a kibble dispensing ball instead of a dish. Some cats are happy with companionship and aren't interested in play. I’ve had luck with using a laser pointer to see if he’ll chase it. You can also try putting treats on a cat tree to get him to climb up and be active. You can also train cats to come when called, beg, sit, shake etc just like a dog. This is done with treats and praise as rewards and takes lots of time. The training should be fun for you both and is good bonding and quality time together. I would first recommend taking Marley to the vet make sure he is healthy. Some cats will become more affectionate when they are sick or not feel well. Second I would recommend increasing toy and activity in the house. He could be getting bored so he is trying to play/interact with you more. They do make toys that can hide treats in them. You can try and hid toys around the house so he has to go find them. Increasing his activity will really help in this situation
