My cat's father mated with her. Is this normal or safe for kittens?

Yes it is okay for the father cat to be around the kittens. If he has left them a lone for the most part, then he will likely continue to leave them be. There is no risk in having the father cat around the kittens unless he has or starts to exhibit aggressive behavior towards them- then you will wan to keep him away. It would not be recommended for a brother and sister to mate, since there is a higher risk of genetic problems with such close relatives mating. The kittens from such a mating may be perfectly normal, or they may suffer from birth defects - there is no way to tell until they are born.

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. You should NOT allow a male kitten to breed with his mother. This will perpetuate underlying genetic conditions, and Siamese cats already have enough genetic problems. I would recommend having either the mother spayed, the son neutered, or just get them both desexed. Best of luck with your little ones!

This is normal. You can separate them for a few hours a day then reintroduce them to help build anticipation. But yes it is common for them to mate multiple times during her heat cycle. They will stop once she gets pregnant or when she goes out of heat. If this is their first time to try or if he is young, she may not get pregnant the first heat cycle. I hope this helps!

I don't know what your question is exactly but this is highly abnormal. These complications could be from an incest breeding, an infection, a uterine abnormality (congenital) or a viral disease. This is not a cat that should be breeding. I suggest you give her a week or so to recover from giving birth and then get her spayed before she becomes pregnant again. She can still nurse kittens (if there are any still nursing) even after being spayed.

Sometimes cats will have small litters, this can be normal. Weigh the kittens daily to make sure they are gaining, give Wizard and her kittens a very warm, quiet, and safe space, and take them into the vet with any questions or concerns. I hope this helps!

It is most probable that the male cat is the father of the kittens. As long as your mother cat and kitten are safe and the male cat is not harming them I would not be too concerned. However, keep in mind, that the Mother cat cat can become pregnant again within just a few weeks of giving birth. If you do not want her having any more kittens then you should have her spayed as soon as possible. Keep an eye on the interactions between the male and the mother cat and as long as they are not hurting one another it should be fine. I hope this helps.
