My cat lost fur after tape removal with oil. Should she see a vet?

Unless Lucy has underlying skin diseases or infection, her hair should grow back normally. If she is itchy or if the skin becomes red, she should go to her vet for testing. Otherwise, continue monitoring for hair regrowth! :-)

Yes, it will grow back again. All the scratches seem to be superficial so disinfection will be possibly enough and can be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Hi there. It is hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like the skin looks pretty normal. Has she recently had any injections in that are? Vaccines, or pain medication really any injection in a cat can cause inflammation and hair loss. If the area is red, has a scab, or continues to spread then she should probably have an examination by a veterinarian. Hopefully the hair grows back soon!

If there is a chance that the skin was burned by the wax, I would recommend having Milks examined by your veterinarian because burns can be very serious and difficult to heal. I have seen this as a reaction to certain spot-on flea/tick treatments, vaccines and microchipping. If any of these were recently done, then I would be most suspicious of them being the cause. The skin appears a red, which indicates that something is irritating it and it appears oily, but I'm assuming that's from the antibiotic ointment. For now, it's best to just keep the area clean with a medicated cat shampoo. You can get this at the pet store. I would clean it once daily and not put the antibiotic cream on it. Use cool water when washing and rinsing to give some relief. You can stop the daily cleanings when the skin appears healthy again and the hair is obviously growing back. If the hair loss continues and the skin appears worse, then it's best to have a vet look at it, because it may need special treatment. I hope that helps and Phoebe gets better soon.

Poor Rhu! You can try a little coconut oil in that area to help soothe it. If it is ulcerated, you may also try a little Neosporin ointment. I would also put a cone collar on her to prevent her from licking that area. Licking will only may the area worse. If the area isn't healing, I would have your vet take a look at it to see if she needs some oral antibiotics or stronger medicines. It could take 2-6 weeks for the area to regrow depending on how long it takes the skin to heal. Very rarely will these types of wounds scar. If it scars, the hair will not grow back. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Harley! Sometimes there can be a dermatitis or an infection under the mat of hair. You can clean the raw spot well with warm water and a mild soap, dry it well and then apply a topical triple antibiotic twice daily as long as she can't lick it off. It is never wrong to have Harley looked at by a Vet. She may need antibiotics, with out seeing her or a picture I couldn't say. But if you want to try the above first since she feels fine then I think that is ok. I hope this helps and I wish you and Harley the best!
