My cat's tail fur came off from wax. Will it grow back normally?

Fir does not just fall out like this. If the tail was indeed naked, then somebody must have removed the hair. Did Whiskas still have skin on his tail? Did you see red flesh without skin? That would be called a degloving injury and it usually happens when a car runs over the tail and the cat tries to get away thereby the skin coming off the tail If that is what happened, you will need to take Whiskas to a veterinarian for an exam. If there is a degloving injury, the tail will have to be amputated in order to avoid serious infection and also to take the pain involved. If just the hair is gone and you can see uninjured, intact skin (light pink or whitish) then You can just wait for the hair to grow back.

Depending on the amount of damage to the skin, the hair may or may not grow back. I do recommend consulting a vet to get the cat started on medications. The type will depend on the suspected cause of the hyperesthesia. A good-quality flea preventative, probiotic, and joint supplement should be used in addition to pain medications and/or medications for anxiety. Laser therapy and acupuncture can also aid in healing of the skin, hair growth, and pain.

Unless Lucy has underlying skin diseases or infection, her hair should grow back normally. If she is itchy or if the skin becomes red, she should go to her vet for testing. Otherwise, continue monitoring for hair regrowth! :-)

Hello. There really are no supplements other than time that will allow the fur to grow back. Addressing her underlying condition & preventing her from continuing to pull out her coat will definitely allow her beautiful coat to regrow. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Hello! It's hard to say for sure, but generally speaking, I wouldn't be too worried, if the tail isn't sore, or itchy. Shaving was a great idea, for 2 reasons. 1) Because now you can keep an eye on the area to be sure it isn't getting worse and 2) Air can now get at the skin to help it to heal. If the area looks sore, or is itchy, I would suggest having her checked out by your vet. If everything seems pretty comfortable, it would be likely okay for you to keep an eye on this at home. Probably not. Unfortunately with frost bite the hair follicles are usually damaged so either the hair will not grow back at all or it will grow back an abnormal color. It is just cosmetic though. It is not harmful to him in any way.
