What if my pet licks ringworm cream? How long for an e-collar?

Creams get absorbed rapidly into the skin and rubbing it in will enhance absorption even more. Lamisil is not toxic when ingested but it may produce upset stomach, so your Batty may vomit if she keeps licking it. Licking the cream off may slow down the healing. If after 10-14 days there is no improvement to the skin, your vet may have to change the treatment to anti-fungal tablets.

A lot of skin diseases can have similar appearances. Ringworm can be spread to people so having children in the home, you will want to know for sure. It is not toxic but not beneficial to the wounds if she licks it right off. It sounds like you need a large e collar since she can still reach all these places. Try to apply the medicine right before you feed her, as this may distract her some. Go to your vet tomorrow or the pet store and get a large e collar so she cannot reach the areas.

Ringworm is a fungal infection that is highly contagious and can spread if it keeps getting messed with. It is also usually treated with topical medications and shampoos. It would be best to talk with your vet about getting a prescription shampoo to treat the ringworm with, and to place an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Baby to keep her from pawing at the spot and irritating it more. Be sure to also thoroughly wash hands and clothing after handling her, and keep her separated from other pets until healed.

An OTC antifungal cream *should* help minor infection, however we cant say this definitively without a physical e am. You cann use an e-collar (cone) on Hagtid to prevent licking or ingestion of the cream until the spit is resolved. The ringworm fungus thrives in dark, warm, moist environments. You can wash bedding in the hottest water allowable by fabric and then dry it in full sunlight. A solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water can be used to disinfect hard, non porous surfaces. Allow for at least a 10 minute wet contact time before wiping down. An adhesive fabric roller can be used to clean up atray hairs on furniture.

If it is dry and she licks it, it won't hurt her. But the biggest concern is that if she licks it then she will slow down the healing or make more moisture on the paw therefore making the fungal infection worse. I would still keep the e-collar on her until it heals. I'm sorry! I know they look pitiful but the tough love will help her heal quicker so she can go back to her normal activity quicker.

You can try pet clothes but I would not bandage since you could cause more issues if the bandage doesn't fit correctly. I would have the cats examined by a vet, those lesions are quite typical of ringworm in cats. It could be allergic (fleas, food allergies, atopy), bacterial, viral, immune-mediated, etc. Topical ointments are not a very good treatment for the reasons you have observed. Often oral medications work better.
