My cat keeps licking a bald spot on his paw. When should I see a vet?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 lbs

I noticed that my cat has a bald irritated patch of skin on his paw/arm. He has been biting and licking this spot. He otherwise has been acting normally, and is a house cat. Wondering what this could be and if I should bring him to the vet or not?

It may be a contact allergy to something in the environment. I suggest you put an E-collar on him to stop the licking and apply this spray to the affected area. If after a week it is not better then take him to your vet for an exam.
